Tekken 3 all the way

fast gameplay(not like the new crappy ones)
great combos and moves, lots of moves to discover and its just GREAT

Tekken, only because I don't take unmerciful beatings like I did at a young age in Street Fighter... Turned me off to the whole thing... My brother was so cheap Sad

Edit: I change my vote to Smash Bro's cuz I didn't see it there! I kick ass at that game!

Smash Bros isn't a real fighting game. Its a party game.

this is a tough choice because 3 of my fav. series are on this: Street Fighter Tekken and Guilty Gear...GGXX is great, but Im having a bit more fun with Tekken 5...a bit less frustrating.

Does anyone else wish that Capcom would just make Street Fighter 4 already?!

hmm.... bloody roar maybe? out of those i'd probably choose KOF for the wide range of characters

I'm more into 2d fighters than I am 3d. For 2d, SNK still rules the genre because they can evolve. SF3 was good, but it took 3 tries total to make the game great. GG is a very good series. It's got flair, and a lot of homage to SNK, but what it's missing is balance. Some chars are just way too powerful *cough*sol badguy*cough* Great game that lacks good balance. As for 3d, Soul Calibur is probably the best, but followed very closely by Virtua Fighter 4. VF4 takes increadible skills to play, and it may not look as flashy as DOA or Tekken, but if you were to simulate a real fight between martial artists it would look somewhat close to VF (excluding the floaty jumping and Kage.) Super Smash is in it's own catagory now. It's still the best out of multiplayer fighting, but Naruto games are catching up.

I've tried to explain that Super Smash Brothers isn't really a fighting game but the "ignorant masses" say it is so their will outweights me,excel,and Illapalazo's.

Oh well.

All games have their slightly better characters
Cervantes,Kudoberry Jam,Sol BadGuy,Ryu(In SF2),An extremely good Rolento or Zangief(oh this guy kicked my ass, later to be grappled and beaten to death by Iori) player,King (his infinite grapple was toned down),Nina with her extremely painfully long combos.
