I have to go with Super Smash Bros Melee. It has it all. Originality, Great variety of characters and an extremely high fun factor. Very close behind are the Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive games. _________________

I'm not too big on fighting games, although I do own Mortal Kombat Deception Collectors edition and have played all the Mortal Kombat games ever made except Deadly Alliance. I have played a few virtual fighters which weren't bad and I have played all the dbz Budikais.
Also, I have played Soul Caliber, Tekken, Killer Instinct, Psychic Force 2012.
As far as being fun to play with lots of people,
Super Smash Bros. Melee owns. I love fighting 4 people at once.
Also these 2 aren't bad either and I'll back up why.
DBZ Budikai 3: The other Budikais were weak, but this one was great in my opinion because of certain features they added, such as being able to stop from getting a ring out if you time it right, being able to teleport behind your opponent to kick them, and if they do it to you, you can counter it if you time it correctly. In order to stop people from abusing the system, the creators made it so ki consumption was pretty high so it is usually used as a way to dodge desperate attacks. You can get a capsule to cut down the ki energy telportation by half, but like everything in the game there is a form of equlibrium, because if you do this, then you won't be able to do many ki attacks or combos since it takes up a lot of slots to have.
Pyschic Force 2012: This game came out for the dreamcast and was awesome for its time and still pretty fun even now. Unlike DBZ B3, you can actually fly freely around a box ring. It is pretty big and you can use special moves like other fighting games and they justify your moves and flying by being in the future with pyschic powers, the game is awesome. One of the hidden characters can freeze time, but it is HARD to master his techniques and requires perfect timing, but because this game is also based on being fair, he can't manipulate the game to make him the best character, you can actually catch him off guard turning the tables on him, quite often. This game is great, although you would have to search ebay or something to get it nowdays since they don't make it anymore. |

For me it was a toss up between CvS2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3. I feel in CvS2 to they ruined alot of the classic Capcom characters, and left out some of my favorites, but it still had so much to offer.
Tekken? It feels like you're handling the controller with boxing gloves. Sluggish and awful. |

ur wrong about Tekken, u have to be skilled to play these games instead of those like street figter,kof,etc....these r easy games wit no moves. |

| I definately love the Marvel vs. Capcom games but at the same time I still have a place in my heart for all the crappy DBZ fighting games out there. |

KOF were good for its era,
though now i think that Soul Calibur 2 and Guilty Gears are a helluva lotta fun....
can't stand virtua fighter and to a lesser extent tekken (not the type that goes for learning off all the moves and counters, prefer more intense and reflexive games) |
