GSpot can tell you what codecs you need and what you have.
VLC is a good player but lacks some of the features that players like Winamp and BSPlayer have. Whatever you do stay away from WMP (Windows Media Player) it's a huge system resource hog and one of the most unstable media players i've ever seen. |

Thanks for all the replies.
i just didn't want to install too many players in my computer. If there isn't a choice, then i will have to install the other players.
Is WMP that unreliable? hahaha |

its not "unreliable" its just that you need the right codecs to play most of the video you can find on the net, those don't come with a standard windows installation, most of the time you'll have to download them over internet.
I suggest you get gspot and post in here the codec you need, we'll be happy to help you in your codec search.
I don't really like VLC (seeking bar suck a*s) so I stick with Media Player Classic (kinda like WMP but without the fat & sugar added), and you'll basically need to do the same thing than with all the other video players around (except VLC), get the codec on the net. |

Hmm, you guys using different codec. Interesting.. I only used DivX, all fine with my 2nd 250 GB HD.
I would like to try different codec and hopefully install successful. |

Sometimes having/installing too many codecs may not be good. As different codecs may conflict with each other.
Players like VLC is like a 1 off... has most codecs and saves your harddisk space. |
