Another big wow in Chapter 172.

Does anyone think this is just too cruel, making him watch Tae die in front of him? Or do you think she won't die?

Could be convenient for Reika though, gets rid of the girlfriend and then she can come in and consul him assuming both of them survive...

Man just when you think there is nothing in Gantz that can surprise you this happens! The next target is Tae! Man some crazy stuff is going to happen next but I don't think Tae will get killed. I have a feeling that Izumi and the gangrape guys will die in the upcoming chapters. Izumi just because I have a feeling he's going to want to fux0r Tae up to piss off Kei... gangrape guys.. well just because someone else needs to die right? I hope none of the normal guys get keeled off this time... and I hope what I'm thinking is going to happen happens(they fail...all get 0 points... all need to get 15 points the next round... but there's not enough aliens for them all to get 15 so some people go crazay)

Man are things getting good. I read the stuff up to the current over the past 3 days. Such an awsome manga. Right up there on my list with Blade of the Immortal and Berserk. Anyway. i have a feeling the vampires are going to get into this mission somehow ^ ^. looking forward to that.

Why would they go through the trouble of showing Kurono's brother being a vampire and nasty fight scenes and things if they aren't going somewhere with it? I figure. hmm the vamps didn't show up for the last mission.. but now that they have another mission.. and obviously it'll drag on a bit more because of Kurono's interference, the vampires have a bit more time to track them down. Im expecting some good stuff from this coming up.

They do not need to bring the vampires in every time. After all, their last major operation against the Gantzers resulted in a big defeat and losses. They would need to regroup and rethink things through.

Expect the nano-vamps to come back some time later or involve in some buildup to another big event.

I think the mangaka will hold off with Kei's brother until later on.. possibly have him kill off Tae(not in this upcoming part). I think throwing in the vampires would be a bit to much at this point... cause you already have Kei against the other gantz people... but then again this guy is known for throwing in the most unexpected twists

i don't know why but i am loosing interest in this manga reading it chapter by chapter, the way it is now its sure got my attention but the chapters are too short its preety much not worth reading them one by one so i will hold off untill the volume finishes however long it might be

Ok, folks, lets get to bidding! What do you think will happen in the upcoming chapters?

1. Tomiko gets a mouth full of sword
2. Izumi finds out what it feels like to be blasted by Kei, again.
3. Option 1 + we will get to see Reikas boobies.
4. Option 2 + we will get to see Reikas boobies.

I think option 4! Izumi has survived for too long after what he did and I don't think they'll kill off Tae... it would just be toooo many deaths of main characters hehe

I think it's a good possibility that they kill of Tae because it would make Kei even more of a tragic hero... the guy who loses everyone he get's close to. The way things have gone on so far i wouldn't pu it past the author to do it. I ALSO want izumi to die because i just plain don't like his character. Jelous and over competitive moron.

Second part of that... we'll prob be seeing Reika's boobs and im coo with that ^ ^.

Well... Gantz 177 showed that
indeed 2 factions are formed and prepared to duke it out. Kuruno is also seeming to be heading back to join the fight after he explained what had happened to Tae. Will Gantz let her live throughout this fight with that knowledge?
Guess we have to wait for future chapters to find out.

Just caught up on Gantz and I'm definitely loving it. For me it's the perfect replacement for Berserk since it has a very similar appeal and, unlike Kentarou Miura's constantly worsening creation, doesn't show any signs of going stale yet.
The combo of an intriguing overall concept, lots of sex and gore, frustrated and constantly tortured main character, ugly aliens who talk bs, and nano-vampires proves to be brilliant.
My favorite volume so far is probably 11. It was really thrilling... in a very fucked up way Smile

I don't think I've ever seen such a huge merciless massacre of innocents anywhere else.

About the current developments - I don't think Izumi will die before the end of the manga if the mangaka follows the basic shounen/seinen patterns. The main rival always tends to stick around for a long while.
Probably Tae will also survive for a while. Though I bet the idol chick is a goner. Most of the other guys are also dead meat (especially the thugs have an air of cannon-fodder about them Smile

)
I guess the development so far makes Gantz what I'd call a 'predictably unpredictable' creation. The author never lets it get repetitive by trying something different in every Gantz mission, but, once you realize what he's trying to do, almost none of the story twists are completely surprising. Not that this is a bad thing.

p.s. Btw Gantz is quite similar to Tokko, the new manga by Tohru Fujisawa (the author of GTO)... though that one started as a major disappointment. Does anybody know how it's progressing?
