to be honest with you i wouldn't buy anything but MSI or Asus motherboards right now... Asus is my first choice but right now they don't have many good A64 - PCI-E options =/
Abit, AOpen, ECS, Chaintech, etc etc are all much less reliable... they'll work but they won't last as long as the MSI and Asus boards. |

| ASUS actually does have a good board out, the A8N-E for S939 with NF4 Ultra chipset I think(I'm pretty sure it ain't SLI). |

Death_Scythe27: I'd stay away from that one because of the VIA chipset... they're not very reliable.
I dunno what options you have in the UK but NewEgg has the Neo4-F for $89 + shipping and the Neo4 Platinum for like $150
evofire: really? how come i couldn't find that one the other day when i was pricing them... heh |

Apparently not that very many shops stock them. I looked in 5 shops around here and only one shop has them listed. Last time I checked, newegg stocked them at around $130-$140US
In that shop around here, it was selling for $167 CAD
Depending on where you are from, they may or may not be available to you.
And yeah, I see nothing wrong with VIA, I'm currently using a KT600 chipset with my Athlon XP. |

well, why go VIA when you can have nForce?
and i was looking on the ASUS site for a board like that... but then we all know that the asus site sucks in navigatability (sp?) |

For such a big company, the ASUS site sure does suck. And no, apparently the board is not listed on their site, but then there are shops stocking it.
I went with VIA because it was cheap, when I got this board, it was a fair amount cheaper than any NF2 board that was available. And I've seen some problems with certain ASUS NF2 boards, they were performing rather slowly for some absurd reason. |

IMHO as one of the tech support person(at work), i prefer to go with Intel for servers and enduser machines.
It's due to the fact that Intel chips are more stable when it comes to the how long a computer should be left on.
Intel chips slows down the processor when the chip is about to get overheated while AMD chips don't.
But I go with AMD chips for my personal game machines since it's seems to run a bit faster(but it's not noticeable for most of peoeple) but i don't leave my computer on 24/7 so i don't have to deal with cpu overheating... |

| lol, Intel would probably need the nice cooling fan more than AMD does. Current A64 Winchester puts out less heat than the AXP Bartons while the Prescotts are well in the hundreds. |
