It's a bit similar to Sun Wu Kong(Chinese tale)....A monkey that has tail,but later Goku would lost his tail......Happy ending

i think that dragon ball is just to boring... the only thing that they have on that dumb manga is fightings between over-active people with super powers... There was a episode that i watched that was with goku that was spending alot of time to make a energy ball(a extremely big one) to destroy a bad guy, i started to get surprised thinking that the bad guy would be crushed and die in a sec.! and when goku throws that ball against the bad man it destroy all the city and after a while the bad guy came out of some smoke with a bit of blod in his lips... Its to boring and every time they get a dragon ball they make wishes like ''i want rebuild the city''(that he destroyes),''i want to tevive my friend'',i want to revive all the people and other stupid things that they did while they was trying to get the dragon ballss...... it really sucks and it is boring, always the same shit. Oh noes! goku is dying! But wait! He is gaining power because he have a monkey tail,friends,and hope... All people that thinks that dragon ball sucks lift up they right hand! anyway, sry for my english(when im inspired i wright my letters a bit faster then normal)

PS: thats just my opinion(dont get offended or something like that) Razz

Although what you said is true, many people still watch the anime and read the manga (i wonder why). I can accept the story when Goku is still small but after they have grown up, the story kind of repeats.

I have the Dragon Ball e-manga but i only managed to read until Volume 42 didn't finish the rest. Why? It's just too long.... and boring since i have known what will happen next without reading it. Basically, what happens in the story is:

Main character weak ->lose to bad guy -> train hard and become stronger -> beat up bad guy

OR

Main character gets killed by bad guy -> go training in heaven or hell -> become stronger -> beat up bad guy -> revive himself

My advice to those who are impatient, DON'T WATCH THE ANIME OR READ THE MANGA. Want to know the story? Just buy a PS2 console and play the game, it's MUCH more interesting.

The official ending should be in Volume 42 but in the e-manga, the side stories were included in the rest 14 volumes which make 56 volumes in total. I've lost interest to read the rest since they were just side stories..

dragon ball is only good in small quantity
the anime normally goes like this

1min: action/fighting
5min: talking
2min: posing
1min: wohoo action again

never the less i enjoyed the series all the way up until GT...
think GT was pointless and the ending was crap

DBZ if u want to experience DBZ .... DO NOT Watch the TV Show or Anime (except the movie) Always go for Manga first.

I've read them all except GT.

It was the first Manga I read, and it is DBZ that helped me to start drawing Smile

I have to say it is too long ...
The Artist was trying to End After the Namek Battle .. then fans want him to continue so he draged to Cell... Officially Cell was the Last Enemy to battle... but Fan still want him to continue ... u see how it is going and it just doesn't stop... too long indeed.
Anime series Blows ...
Because of the Talking and Posing.. they could have shortened the posing to less than 30 secs ...

The anime showing on TV at my place last more than 7 years, showing half an hour a day and twice a week. Now still showing GT so that makes 8 years now.

Think Naruto can beat the legend? Dragon Ball don't have much flashbacks, just talks a lot unlike Naruto which pisses me off with its' flashbacks.

To all those comparing modern mangas to DragonBall: DragonBall is frggin' old compared to Shaman King, Naruto and the rest. For his era of manga, Akira Toriyama was the big fish out there, and Dragonball/DragonBall Z's 42 volumes had an acclaim at that time that most mangakas could only dream of. There is no point in comparing Naruto to DBZ, you want to know why? DragonBall started in the late 80s, while Naruto dates from close to 2000, there's more than a decade of difference between these two mangas, and in a decade, the detail in the drawings, the storylines, the characters, EVERYTHING gets better. In other words, the bar goes up, way way up. As for anime, people, why are we forcing each other to repeat ourselves? Anime adaptations usually suck, et voila!

i read dragonball when i was really younger and found it awesome.... later on i discovered it wasnt all that great and that anime was just a pain..... i mean.... when theyre on namek frieza says the planet is going to blow up in 5 mins but it takes 5 freaking eps...... what kind of idiotic logic is that.....

no matter what.. u must admit that DBZ is a classic.. i read it when i was .. 9... and i'm like 23 this yr and i still rmember it..

ofcourse.. compared to anime nowadays.. its not as good.. but still a classic hehe
