The two OVA's = Trust and Betryal
Movie = Samurai X:Requiem of the Patriots (i think it was horrible. total crap)
Series
End OVA= Reflections.
personally, the OVA's all three of em kicked the series butt.
there should be one about Kenji though. that would be nice.

I'm now confused... I want to know what people know, because I've been confused. Rurouni Kenshin is not Samurai X, I know that for a fact but you say otherwise...
Who knows the facts?
I don't know them all but here's what I do know.
Rurouni Kenshin consists of a 94 episode TV series, a movie and two OVA's. The TV series was licensed by Media Blasters in the US and the company stuck with Rurouni Kenshin as the title. However, ADV Films acquired both the OVA's Tsuiokuhen and Seisouhen as well as the movie. For some odd reason or another, they decided to call the series Samurai X. Tsuiokuhen became Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal. Seisouhen became Samurai X: Reflection and the movie was called Samurai X: The Motion Picture (or Requiem for the Ishin Patriots).
Two different names, same wandering samurai. I've only watched Tsuioku... screw it. I've only watched Trust and Betrayal (SO much easier to type for me). It looks like the order of the viewing has already been put in place. Hope this helped you Tevesh. =)
Im pretty much the standard fan..the way i saw the series was the anime then the the two OVAs then samurai x then the end OVA. i only read a little manga but i really stopped watching the series after the kyoto arc

hmm, i have watched all the series except for the movies and the OVA's, can someone tell me what the OVA's is all about? i am pretty blur about this though i like to watch the series but i am very confused about Kaoru relationship with Kenshin and did kenshin pass down his skill to Ayoshi? _________________
Destiny - the OVA's are pretty much a re-cap of Kenshin's past and the ending. The storyline that's covered is pretty much where the anime series left off, albeit, with a much more serious and emotional overtone.
I have to say, I'm disappointed that the OVA pretty much skimps over the more interesting battles between Kenshin's old enemies, Aoshi's and Saito's involvement, and the last battles.
However, the OVA Reflections goes beyond where the manga ends. The story pretty much ends happily, where you see everyone in a reunion, and Kenshin and Kaoru have Kenji.
Reflections goes as far as to cover the last moment's of Kenshin's and Kaoru's life, making the whole story more of a tragedy.
Either way, Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu's lineage ends at Seijuro Hiko and Kenshin; Kenji nor Yahiko learned a lick. But it's entertaining to watch Kenji and Yahiko battle it out in the last OVA.

The first two OVA's are fairly loyal to the flashbacks from the manga, but I have no interest in watching Reflections.
According to notes in the manga from Watsuki, the creator of Rurouni Kenshin, he effectivly "disowned" the anime, either when the original material began right after the Shishio arc, or when the Reflections OVA aired. I can't remember which.
Having not seen Reflections, I'll mention the action around Enishi Yukishiro, Kenshin's brother-in-law, based on the manga.
In the manga, Enishi killed Kaoru, but it turned out to be a doll. Watsuki used that workaround only because Rurouni Kenshin was supposed to be a Shounen manga, for young boys. Therefore, he decided it should have a happy ending.

My personal favorite in the Rurouni Kenshin saga is the Trust and Betrayal OVAs. Kenshin is portrayed here in an excellent way. He's a Hitokiri serving the Ishinshishi during the Bakumatsu. You can see his ups and downs as a normal person and as Hitokiri Battousai. He is not the dorky rounin portrayed in the series. He is the young and powerful Hitokiri responsible for cutting down officials of the Tokugawa Bakufu. BTW, trivia , Kenshin Himura is based on a true Hitokiri named Kawakami Gensai. Both Kenshin and Gensai served the Ishinshishi and are commonly mistaken for a girl. Both of them has a cold disposition and mo mercy for their targets.
