Final Fantasy (I've only played 7, 9, and 10 and only finished 9)
Tales of Destiny 2
Breath of Fire

Of course those are just the games that I've played the most and like out of others such as grandia2, thousand arms, star ocean (PS1) and etc.

#1 RPG has gotta be Super Mario RPG. Yay for oldschoolness!

After that I'd have to say the Golden Sun series(by far my favorite games for the GBA), and a tie between the Breath of Fire series and the Dragon Warrior series.

btw, i tried playing Final Fantasy once (i borrowed a friend's PS1 and FF8) and i don't see what's so special about it. Didn't seem all that impressive to me.

pokemon is really a great concept for an rpg but it lacks story, i also don't like the way that they are going with colosseum, the graphics are really bad. I feel they should be focusing more on story, that's what's lacking in the previous silver/gold/red/blue/green/yellow/sapphire/ruby/etc..... (wao there's a lot)
