I would buy one issue to see what it's like, but since the ADV online store can't be reached i guess i'll have to wait.
And 145$CDN is pretty expensive for a magazine subsription, and you practically don't get any discount from the retail price (3.5$CDN). Nintendo power was 27.95$CDN for 12 issues, i know the production costs are higher than NP's (translation, copyrights, etc.) but still i'd prefer buying an issue first than a 12 month subscription to a magazine i've never seen. |

| next month will be a year since i started to buy that magazine, i like it a lot, i tried to compare it to other magazines but it was really hard to do, it is pricy though and i did not get a subsciption which is only $30 less than just buying them every month, I am probably gona give them to some library for other people to enjoy, unless there is some one here that wants them and wiilling to pay for shipping? |

I decided to try it out for a year and I can't say that I was all that impressed. Of course I was also getting the Japanese Newtype at the same time so that should be noted. I'm not intending to re-subscribe when I get back to the states. I can get a years worth of the Japanese Newtype shipped to my doorstep for the same price as the American version, if that is saying anything about how crazy the price is...)
I guess for me even though it is much easier to read the USA version I found that it just seemed too watered down Animerica for my tastes. That and the original articles weren't all that exciting either. Sono ue, the DVD was freakin' useless for the price they try to charge you for it. (It generally runs for like 550 Yen over here. (About 5 Bucks)
That and though ADV isn't really involved with the magazine somehow the fact that they are connected to them makes it feel dirty. (Not the biggest ADV fan out there... Sure I'll buy their stuff but still... Something about them just bugs me I guess.)
That and if you want inserts I suggest you pick up Megami Magazine... They usually have at least one big fold out poster and 10 or so centerfold type posters. (And some of them are double sided so if you don't like one side you can flip and use the other...) That and since it is Megami (Goddess) they are all girls. ^^; |

| I bought the magazine a few times. I enjoyed the couple that I bought but I don't think it's worth the 90 or so dollars for the subscription. Sure there's a lot of stuff in it but that's a little steep for just on year. Two years? maybe, but not for one. I can not turn my back on my cheap ways. |

I used to subscribe it, it's too expansive. The extras weren't much great either, barely got 2 or 3 posters in one year subscription. I was disappointed with it. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

I'm in the middle of my two-year subscription. I got 6 free dvds through some renewal deal, I forget the details. I love this magazine, but lately they've just been doing the same shows over and over again (is this Full Metal Alchemist Monthly now??)... plus they spoiled the ending of Maburaho for me... ARGH!!!!!
Don't get me wrong though, I recommend this magazine to anyone who loves anime. You're better off subscribing though cause the $12 newstand price is kinda pricey... with a subscription, I think you save $60 off the newstand price... or buy 7, get 5 free. I dunno, someone can do the math. _________________

Yeah, it might sound like a sweet deal, but not to us in Canada...
They don't offer ANY special deals OR contests to Canadian residents.
Plus, the price for Canadians are higher than paying it in US $. and Yeah... it's ridden with spoilers. Beware when you turn the next page... _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |
