which anime with the best story line + meaningful?

Mai Hime ...because I think it's interesting that the writer can use and apply names of gods around the world properly for individual child (child of Hime). and the story still ,in some way, bases on these gods' story. And the story line gets more interesting when the episodes go on.. and other things like soundtracks character and so forth, that make me think this one is the best Shocked

another anime that i would suggest is Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito (though it's yuri ...) it's worthy of notice that the writer can imagine this kind of things... (base on anime there are many worlds that created by Adam and those wolrds are kept in books and these books are kept in a very big library and this library is in a responsibility of Eve) so i think this is a very cool imagination...that's it

and many others that have good story lines ,but i want everyone to notice these two series ,too Shocked

Evangelion - I've found so many Biblical references in that. A mind-bending series that made my friend's head hurt. Very Happy

Even Chobits has a deeper critique of human society and technology if you really think about it. I won't spoil it here but if you've watched it and really thought about it you should know what I'm talking about.

For these type of anime that REALLY makes you think, these two are my favorite.

I will say Kano Kare (His & Her Circumstances) have a meaningful storyline because of the usual struggles that teenagers actually have to face; for example boy and girlfriend issues, friendships, parentshood and so on. Trust me you will love it.

.. Not to slam anybody, but I'll never understand how someone could put "Naruto" as an answer.
For me I'd say Kareshi Kanojo no Jijo. Excellent series, all about the relationships between several friends and enemies.

EVA...because thinking is fun
Haibane Renmei...pretty and the last episode was awsome
Angel Sanctuary...even if they only made the first 5 episodes
and Trigun...just plain good with quite a few meanings
