Same here. Or the Ichigo 100% type nonsense where something almost happens but somehow gets messed up.

Ack. Just have something happen,(hell, anything!). Yeah, it then makes it a lot less 10yr old "funny" and a bit more mature(say 13yr old funny), but in reality it just makes things more complex. Too bad most writers don't realize that until the strip has gone on for well over a hundred episodes. "Oh - I can actually get MORE mileage out of this by advancing these nearly 20 year old characters beyond Jr. High School levels."(/me throws an eraser at their head) Sheesh.

Ya know what i really think about ichigo or pastel (as a man point of view) ?
I can even classify this manga as a shojo rather than a shonen.
Because the story is more focused on emotional love than the situations (present facts).

Another reason is money : the mangaka des not hesitate to enlarge his serie because it makes money.
So we have got there a "love manga serie à la DBZ" :

- in DBZ, we have the bad ones got i don't know how many punches, but still didn't die. Because if they did, it would mean the end of the serie.

- in Pastel, or Ichigo (and many more), we have got the hero living or dating with his girlfriend I don't know how many months or times, but still nothing happens (not even a kiss !!!!!! Mad

About Pastel, I don't think there could be much more happening in the same old situations that we're reading now, I think soon there should be something different happening that would give the author a reason to go over 4 volumes. Rolling Eyes

DrWise: That's the trap they all fall into.

The reality is, the closer one actually gets, the harder the others fight and backstab. Tanchi Muyo is a classic example of this. The second Ayeka finds out Tenchi had sex with Ryoko(this was like the 2nd or third episode), all hell broke out and didn't stop.

Now imagine a "dating sim" Tenchi. Ick. It works so much better if they are trying to get at each other and actively ruin the others chances.

Actually the anime, but the idea is the same.

Watch the Tenchi Muyo OVA and in the episde where Ryoko first stays in the house, she goes into his room. The next morning there's the infamous "egg" incident.

In the original version, the dialog is pretty close to this:
"It's our child(holds up the egg)"
Tenchi gulps hard.
Ayeka: "you.. had... sex?"(edited out in the U.S. version to "you kissed" or some nonsense)
Then his uncle says "Way to go!" and while everyone is glaring at his H-ness, you notice that Tenchi's not denying it when put on the spot. Ayeka's looking right at him and so is Ryoko and starts to nearly pass out at the idea of having a child. Lol.

And thus starts the competiton between the two women. Smile

Ichigo would be so much better if he did kiss or do something - it would drive the other women nuts and force them to get more serious. You know they all are capable of backstabbing each other. Lol.

Yeah, sort of. The original comment was that Pastel is kind of like Ichigo in that there's very little movement, when in real life, things move much faster. A kiss or two here or there, or a hug or something wouldn't be bad, and advancing the storyline to more serious levels of involvement really just gives the author more ways in which to expand everything - despite the initial reaction which makes you think the opposite).

I'd actually like to maybe see a series where they maybe actually dated or went out as a couple. I see a lot of the same formulaic Manga and Anime out there - it's all about "Gosh - how do I spend 3 years trying to ask this girl/boy out on a date?"

Yeah, cool, hope we get the next chapter soon. Until now every chapter finished kinda good for Mugi(like the date thing) but now we don't know what happens, so I want it to be released sooner.
