Hmmm.... if it was in us dollars that's like $20 million for an ova..... crap.... if it's in yen, then it'll be like 2 million us dollars, I think.
Yea, check Yukikaze out, it's got a weird storyline but the dogfights are awesome! |

So not as many dogfights or anything but some nice character development in there. All in all I really enjoyed this episode and would have a lot more things to talk about if it wasn't for the very end of the Aone-Anbu sub that set me in a tizzy and demanded that I forget how good the show was to mention this instead.
Half of you are probably not even going to see it anyway because you skip the credits, why can I say that? because apparently the quality check team did the same thing...
All the way to the end when they mention when the next episode is going to release, my version says 2004 Spring. An honest mistake but let that sink in again...
2004 Spring...
What is wrong with that? Well considering it is already spring (At least in Japan) and vol 4 was suppose to be spring I just find it rather ironic. I mean even if you don't know the Japanese Kanji for "aki"/fall I would have thought the common sense factor would have started buzzing or something with the timer/typesetter
To add insult to injury they went to all the trouble of coloring the words with autumn browns etc. to match the Japanese text. Oh well, once again proof that everyone makes mistakes, though honestly I feel this should rank up there in the AJ GitS mistake category myself, even if it isn't a plot part they messed up. It just seems soooo~ obvious...
On the other hand I can also see it now... Fans on forums going "right on! the next Zero comes out in SPRING! ^^; |

Actually its already been talked about in other forums. I was puzzled and wondering what that was all about since the raw stated it was Autumn 2004. So AnimeONE-ANBU made such a mistake eh? Quite amazing actually... |

Finally saw the episode... Like typical Macross it finally focuses on the romance and music themes. Though they still seem to be more of an afterthought here than in any other Macross series (and where's the love triangle? Macross is not Macross without a bona fide love triangle!)
I don't think there's much to complain about it otherwise... The plot is still a bit complex and slow, but the animation is gorgeous. Hopefully the last ep will tie it all up (and hopefully it'll even show what happens to these characters during SDF Macross, if they survive that is) |

Where were you for the last 3 episodes?!
Mao loves Shin (handsome rugged nasty boy descends from the sky). Shin thinks Mao is eerie (him no paedo). Shin loves Sara (Yo! Nice b00b5! ). Sara thinks Shin is sweet finally and lusts after the handsome young pilot (no not Fokker, Shin). There is your love triangle |

That's why it's not a "bona fide" love triangle... Every one of the love triangles in Macross contains no "one-way loving" like the one with Mao. It's always two characters of the same sex liking one person of the opposite sex, and that person torn between them (of course, they are still each done a bit differently to keep this interesting)... Otherwise in Macross 7 the diagram would be much more complicated than a love "triangle"... |

The only problem I find with this OAV is that its been so long since I watched the other OAVs that I pretty much forget the plot.
I remember a lot of cool dogfighting, some naked chick singing.. and thats about it.
Looks like I gotta go back and rewatch the first couple episodes =/ _________________

| I don't know about that whole thing with Mao in regards to the Love Triangle... Ep. 3 had some moments with her and Shin being very close and it seemed like it could have gone both ways there. (The way the whole treasure hunt scene went for example) It may not be as obvious as the other macross shows but that doesn't bother me too much. So far it is telling an interesting story (Considering what Lucas has done w/ Star Wars, going back and re-telling a "Zero" tale seems like very risky buisness as of late...) with good animation and has still managed to get the love, machines and more importantly (for me) the songs/music in there as well. ^^; |

They'll do that in Ep 1 of SDF Macross. I doubt it'll happen in Macross Zero. |
