the Left Coast probably died off cause most of the left coasters are going at it in the LTE anyways... there is really not much need for us to talk elsewhere... _________________

yep, from Canada... and soon to become citizen...
Ahh... so you're going to become naturalised then? If you don't mind me asking, where were you originally from?
When did you emigrate there? I know the healthcare overe there is very similar (and probably miles better) than here in the UK. if jobs for middle grade doctors dry up here, I'll consider moving to Canada. _________________ Click Here For My Anime List

teren>> I hail originally from the Philippines... and have been living here in Canada about 4 years now...
and the since working in the healthcare here, I would say it is pretty decent, like all systems there are still kinks to work on... but at least things here are changing for the better (that is how I see it with regards to the department I am working at {pharmacy}). I can't really compare it to other first world health care systems like the US or UK since I have not been in the UK and haven't really had any chance to test out the system of the US, but from what I gather, you won't file for bankruptcy with the Canadian Healthcare system, where as there is a big chance you may end up doing if you go with the US system, I don't know how it works in the UK though so yeah... _________________

Ah I see now. Doesn't it take 5 years or so over there to become naturalised? I think it's 10 years if you don't have any ties to the UK. It's much shorter if say, one of your grandparents hails from these shores.
i'm not really going to compare the main differences between the healthcare systems of the US and that of Canada/UK. That's a minefield already and I've already annoyed 1 or 2 Americans by my comments, so I'll reserve judgement. Put it this way, when I gradute, all i need to do, is change my ID, register with a professional body and get my licence.

for any immigrant you have to be living in Canada for an accumulated 3 years in the past 4 years... then you are eligible to apply for citizenship... then you take a citizenship test and after that if you pass (which is usually the case) you get to take the oath of citizenship, they will hand you your citizenship card and there you go...
I don't mind you comparing the healthcare system cause I don't really know the differences, and I won't feel bad about it if say you mention something that is derogatory to our system, its just one of those things that we have to improve on I guess... besides, I'm pretty sure there is a huge difference with the US and the Canadian systems... _________________

I see! Cheers for that
yeah, every healthcare system has it's advantages and distinct disadvantages. It may seem like socialist medicine, but isn't it human nature for the strong to take care or at least, assist the poor or weak?
I just feel that the US system just doesn't seem right. if you have health insurance (and the claim you make is watertight), it's great.
if you don't, you're screwed. I'm not sure if you've seen Michael Moore's "Sicko" Xristyan, but I would highly recommend it. I honestly thought that the British NHS was a decadent post WW2 relic. After "Sicko", I'm actually very content with what I'm in.
You probably might/might not have noticed, but i've been away for 4 days. Went to that other great tourist destination... AMSTERDAM _________________ Click Here For My Anime List

I'm not really familiar with neither the US nor the British healthcare systems. I do know about the health insurance in the US tough and I think it has it's pros. In Hungary everybody has health insurance and the healthcare system is about to collapse.
Well, the entire country is near bankrupt at the moment, so this isn't that surprising...
Edit: After watching the movie, I take back everything I've said... _________________ Dv
