OK. I know it wouldn't be called manga, but has anyone discovered any good manga, comics that are translated from other countries? In America they are graphic novels , of, course...I know Korea has some, but that's it. any others?

There are some in China, and from what I hear, attempts*** in Europe, but nothing looking too much above Japan. Its being distributed wider now, though.

There are a few Chinese/Hong Kong comics that are very popular here in Indonesia. Most of them are the work of Tony Wong.

I used to read a lot of European comics when I was younger. One of my favorites was probably Tanguy and Laverdure, a comic about two French airforce pilot.

How about "The Best of Lat" by Lat.
The one Malaysian comic I like very much.
Though it may be only a comic strip in the newspaper at first. Mow it has a few volumes.
Some of the jokes may require understanding of Malaysian culture.

There's a quite a few from Britain.

For the kids, there's from the weekly comics magazines:
Beano
Dandy
Topper
Beezer
etc.

There's also the Discworld series, in graphic novel format.

From France/Belgium:
Asterix
TinTin

I'm not really into regular comic series, at the moment.

Me thinks 'manga' is only appropriate for the comics style from East Asia (Japan mainly) Comics from other places are just comics.

Western comics that are good (and that I read as a kid ^^)
Tintin
Asterix
Lucky Luke
Schtroumpf
Boule et Bill

All from France/Belgium

There's also Calvin and Hobbs (US)

Manga isn't very common in my country (Mauritius). Very limited titles. I've seen some Captain Tsubasa in French and that's basically it :pukes: Hope manga gets more popular
