lifestyle? as in... religion?
Umm, what can I say? It's tv, most of it. I don't really consider watching tv to be a hobby so much as something to pass the time. Hobbies are things like rock climbing, mountain biking, photography and even bird watching. Well, I suppose if bird watching is a hobby then anime can be to. I don't see it like that though. It's just entertainment. Well, usually. Lately it's been a bit lackluster. _________________ David |

i guess its silly since its only a tv show. Animes deeper tho. I guess if it doesnt qualify as either its just a form of entertainment. Butt i guess for it to be a hobby it would be something you do every now and then to entertain yourself. And when i called it a lifestyle i ment simply that its someting intertwined in your life so much that it has a strong influence. I may not have used the right words. Srry. Either way whater id call it we can all agree we love it right |

| Doing stuff for anime-source.com is my hobby. Anime is just like TV for me, only I have a lot more control over what I watch and when I watch it. |

I think if anime defines who you are or if you live for it you need some help About anime being "deeper tho"... uhm yeah, like 1% of it... at the most.

Not at all. A hobby is something you do in your free time, whether it is drawing, watching movies, or looking at the stars. If you have lots of free time then watch lots of anime if you want to.
And are you not doing it to entertain yourself? |

I never get the fanatics Kai. I'm a great lover of all kinds of art, anime or otherwise. I think anime is unique but, in many ways, it's still the same as everything else. Most of the stuff churned out of hollywood is shit but occasionally you come across an absolute corker (Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind). The same's just as true of anime. I'm in the same boat as Aldim on this. Anime's just like all other forms of media entertainment. There are programs you wouldn't both to watch, programs you'd switch off after 10 minutes, programs you'd watch cos they're pretty good and then programs that you'd set your alarm for to make sure you don't miss them. They don't come along too often.
I guess the difference with anime is that the japanese will make any films with animation. They don't confine it to kiddie flicks like, say, the americans. This usually throws up some pretty interesting stuff. But once you become used to it it's not quite so exciting and novell as it once was. Maybe your standards change and you become more critical. The good stuff still rules, though.
Btw, if anyone were to ever call me an "otaku" I'd punch them in the face. Just a heads up there for anyone I might be likely to meet irl. _________________ David |

love the mousepads
i would cosider anime a hobby, mostly because it does take a lot of time and it does cost money, it would be an interest if it was for free, and i guess i don't really care if someone calls me an otaku |

Actually the mouse pad design is probably the best suited rest for preventing RSI. I'd feel like a complete dork if I ever used one, though. Perhaps they could be disguised as hills, fruit, or something benign like that. _________________ David |

boobs? yes. Mousepads made to look like boobs? Surely I don't have to explain how much of a toss pot that'd make you look? _________________ David |
