Sousei no Aquarion Synopsis & Reviews on Anime-Source
Since I watched this marvelous first episode some days ago, I can without hesitation say that this is one anime I would heartily recommend to anyone. Those of us who can remember the days of Getter Robo would enjoy the big robots romping here. Best animation I have seen so far for this year ( might even be beyond all previous fares as well, Karas might be equal or better but we would have to get a good capture to compare ).
The plot has many mysteries, launching many questions right off the start but backing them up with reasons and background.
The English sub of the first episode is already out now, so what are you waiting for??!

just watched the first ep, the animation is pretty good and the cg is above par. story seems interesting, but i could doo without the cliche old school mecha stuff. things like combining robots, and constant yelling of attacks/moves (for me) really turns this (otherewise) extrememly wonderful anime off. _________________

looks promising....
+ strong visuals, lots of movement, giant (transforming) robots, and explosions
- very cliche storyline thats been done so many times before .... which might make the series very predictable ( but than again, is the plot that important in a typical giant robot anime?)
3-sec summary of the pilot:
post-apocolyptic society - survivors in giant robots vs. supernatural enemies (in this case: "Angels")... hmm, where have i seen that before?
The genre makes it hard for a new series to surpass the greatness that came before so....
its sets up fans for possible disapointment....
btw: i couldn't help but laguh at the inuendo laced combining sequence...
"kimochi...." |

does any1 else think that this anime is a bit lik power rangers. when those mechanical angel aquarion became 1 big robot. the graphics n the battle scene was amazin. i think that this anime is a bit lik Neon Genesis Evangelion with the mech vs the fallen angels. it was weird when that guy named Fudo Gen know that much about those Aquarion mech n he has those fast movements.

| I think I might stick with this one just for the animation and visuals alone. General story seems kind of generic (woo, just what we need, more mecha) although the woman with two sets of eyes does look....interesting. |

Its true that this isn't the first anime with the whole theme about post-apocalyptic society with humans fighting vs. supernatural beings...
Raxephon, Neon Genesis... those are two that come to mind as predecesors.
But thats ok, let's see how they use this genre in thier hopefuly original plot and character development style.
We shouldn't dismiss this anime as just another NG: Evangelion just because of the theme. I mean FMP was a mecha action genre, but it still was awsome in its own way without people bashing "It's just another Gundam like anime." (Though both can be considered the same theme/genre.)
I am being quite optimistic, I know, but I really do feel that this anime might hold solid ground and maybe in the future might be used as a standard for its genre when we compare future animes of this theme.

I thought this was boring.
It got weird along the way, but then it got boring again.
It reminds of xenosaga. I tried to give that a chance but couldn't take anymore of it.
The only thing I liked about this first episode was when they were combining and the woman made this weird sound. |

I did not know about this show. Thanks. I'm a huge fan of the original Shin Getter Robo stuff.
I watched the first ep. I like it enough to look forward to the next episode.
Hopefully (for me anyways), it doesn't turn out to be another EVA (as I did not enjoy that show).
Many love EVA, but I am not one of them, but that is variety for you. |

| i agree the tech in Sousei no Aquarion is a bit lik xenosga. those mechanical angel aquarion probably hav more than just those 2 forms that we all saw at the 1st ep. |
3 forms to be exact, one is Solar as head, one is Luna as head, and one is Mars as head
Solar..Luna...MARS!!??
i thought it was gonna be like a sailor moon thing that they hav a robot for every planet..guess not.. yea.. only 3 forms |

| Yea the anime seems quite promising, but ehhh once you seen just about every mech/robot/transformer/mobile suit anime out there.....they sorta get meaningless after awhile, but dont get me wrong here aquarion is still a great anime. |
