|
|
After reading a few animated gif threads here I thought I'd have a go.
I made a GIF in fireworks and then exported it to view in fireworks and IE and it displayed fine. but when I uploaded it to my free ftp serverspace to host it and viewed it from online it's just a still image.
My 1st try of making one. I think my method may have messed it up though
1)used virtual dub to obtain .bmp
2)used fireworks file>batch process option>export> to change my 8.bmps to 8.gifs
3)opened 8 .gifs 'as animation'
exported this to browser where image was animated then saved as a .gif file.
I opened the .gif file I made in firefox and IE and it works, but when uploaded then you try to view it, in both browsers it's not animated
heres a link:http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/khoang/bleachv1-2.gif
Edit 1: it says there is an error when you view the properties from the image on this url
Edit 2:It doesn't animate when I use photobucket to host it aswell but when I tried imageshack it worked fine anyone know why this is?
Appreciate any help on how to fix this /improve my method, thanks

It loads and animates fine for me in both IE and Opera. When I check its property, it shows an animated gif 71979 bytes with 8 frames. Looks ok to me.
Not sure why there is a difference between sites. Maybe some sites load very slowly and it won't animate until the complete 72k bytes are all downloaded. Check the properties and see if the size of the file you download is the same as the expected value. Sorry can't be more helpful. |

| I am seeing your animated GIF animating as it should be. There is a stutter in mid-jump though. |

Does your firewall block animations? If yes, try modify the setting to allow animation. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |

It turns out that the reason why it didn't animate when hosted on the webspace that came with my internet connection was because zone alarm was blocking the site, but it wasn't displayed in the sitelist so I had to add it.
Zone Alarm was blocking animations. I don't remember turning that on though although I figured it out before your post Lucifer I'll probably forget the reason why animated gifs are blocked. If it happens again in the future your post would be there to help Thanks for the help people |

| speaking of that, my IE does not animate the gifs, even though my firefox shows the animated gifs perfectly fine. Is it a problem with my IE or the settings of my Zonealarm firewall? Thx |

| For IE, first thing to check for is to go to Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Multimedia and ensure that Play animations in webpages is checked. |
