eh...some of the manga listed here, isn't shoujo but rather, shounen romance...<_<;; which in some cases I like better by the way...

My favorite shoujo manga that I've read a lot of to form a fair opinion is Fruits Basket. ^_^ Very touching, really. The Zodiac thing might turn off some potential readers, but it's just a story about love at heart. Loving someone and being loved despite your imperfections. It's so sweet at the artwork is pretty, IMO.

I'm currently reading Absolute Boyfriend and I like it so far, even though it's a bit zany at times. ^^; But amidst the crazy premise it's just your sweet shoujo high-school love story.

Need... to... check out more shoujo...

Man I wanna get across to people's head that just because the manga is about romance doesn't mean it's SHOUJO!!!!!

Clearly if Ichigo 100% was shoujo, there wouldn't be so many freaking panty and boob shots! There would be more bishies lurking around the place too!

Anyway back to my favourites ...currently I'm enjoying:
Zettai Kareshii (Only bought it today...and I am already in haanyan mode Laughing

Ouran Hosto-bu(SO FUNNY...but haven't got teh latest volumes),
Love Monster,
NANA(GREAT!!)
and Fruits Basket (GREAT!!) ...also recently hooked to Mermaid Melody

Although some all time favourites are CardCaptor Sakura, Sailormoon, Utena, Fuushigi Yuugi, Fullmoon wo sagashite and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne

Ichigo 100% is definitely not shoujo...it's ecchi shounen romance. Tip: if a manga has either: a female love interest who is the center of the main guy's affections and fantasies OR a bunch of pretty, well-endowed women; loads of fan-service and ecchiness; and a dorky, (possibly) desperate main guy all in the middle of this, chances are it's most likely shounen. Or something like that. There might be exceptions, but mainstream shounen romance often have those qualities.

Other examples of shounen/seinen romance are: Love Hina, Chobits (which a LOT of people misclassify as shoujo, even Amazon does T_T), School Rumble, Suzuka, Ai Yori Aoshi, Ah! My Goddess, etc.

Kurenai--> although you can understand why they would misclassify Chobits... the best description of whether it should be shounen or shoujo I've ever read about for Chobits is that 'Chobits its shounen manga on the outside but a shoujo manga at heart' ...and I completely agree with that. IMO if they just cut the ecchi scenes it'd be a shoujo haha Razz

For me, it would have to be a tie between Angel Sanctuary and Fruits Basket. I'm not that big a fan of shoujo unless it has some magic in it. ^^ Angel Sanctuary mesmerised me and Fruits Basket is simply brilliant.

I agree that Angel Sanctuary is the best. It gets the affection between the leading characters across to the reader without being flowery or bubbly.
