well the game gives a lot of freedom

simply to say the game is full of freedom(story is good believe me except you like those romance then go to ff10 or something like that)

aside from the story
well the character is well unique
for example
most people say the hero(mostly main char except the story is more to group than a character so you can say there is no main hero here since it is free for you to choose)

the came consist mostly on whatever you can spend on
so whatever you can buy with mony and lp is as good to use
except to gain lp is pretty tiresome

most of the time you may think it is just some dungeon crawling(expecially if you skip all the movie)

and the most great is you can set your ai and it enhance the game further(i believe it is my most fave fighting system from all ff)

Watching the English trailer for this made it seem like I was watching a trailer for new Star Wars movies. The voice over for the English version really sounds high quality. I especially like the fact that the main character is not a complete moron like Tidus, and doesn't act like a 5 year old.
I am very hyped up on the release of this game. Only 5 days left to go!

PS: The british accent on some of the voice overs were awsome. I think this will be the very first game where I will actually be looking forward to a Japanese game that has English voice overs. I think companies should just stop putting an effort into replacing Japanese VA with mediocre English VA, and just keep the Japanese voice if they can't afford high quality voice over.

the reviews for this game are out now and it looks like it's the most obvious (only?) choice for rpg of the year award..
too bad rogue galaxy isn't out until next year, it's the only rpg i can think of with a chance to compete with FFXII.

Going out now to pick up my copy from the store Smile
I hope it's good.

:Edit:
Tee hee!

Didn't play much yet, maybe tommorow I'll play more. Very Happy

One thing I noticed though...
It seems that the Archadian empire(the invaders) uses the british accent; which is very fitting considering the history of Britain's practice of colonialism in the past. The Dalmascans seems to speak in "normal"(American English) way. Anyways, I'm glad that the voice works are pretty good so far, the narrator(some old guy) sounds little odd though.

Yep.
But rather than for strategy, I wanted to have it for info on items, enemy data, skills, etc.

It's pretty cool. I like it a lot. The camera angles are better athough I wish it wouldn't be inversed... But that will only take a small amount of time to become accustomed to. I'm in college right now so I can't play it as much as I want. But I plan to get a lot of hours in this weekend... Even though I have a paper due... eh.. I'll squeeze it in.. I always do... But hell.. It's all I can do with my sprained ankle... Purchased the collectors edition . I didn't get the strategy guide because.. Well... I despise cheating until the game is beatin. And by the time I do beat the game... The guide will already be on numerous sites on the net... Waste really.. Atleast for me... But I would say it's better than any other Final Fantasy... Then again I'm not one who says that FFVII was the best one out there... Probably VIII for me but that doesn't really matter... The old guy sounds cool to me... With what he is talkin about. Gives a very weird and odd feeling to it. I'm VERY VERY glad that it doesn't have a predetermined weapon class like FFXI and some of the first ones. Gives it a higher replay value... Still doesn't have a good one(except for completing the game)... But it raises it... Anymore would be spoiling it kind of... And I don't like that when it comes to RPG's(unless I'm trying to guess it... don't like someone just telling me) and good movies... I recommend it... Maybe not CE... But atleast renting it...

The guide contains things like locations of each treasure chests, the probability of certain items spawning from individual chests, detailed maps, area monster stats, etc. I don't want to open up a browser everytime I need to look up something. It's also very handy to have diagrams and pictures on hand. I didn't buy it because I absolutely need it, think of it as a luxury.

LoL, it's just cool to have around. =D

That's great that you have the FFXII. I'm always busy so I dont have time to play RPG/Strategy games anymore. Crying or Very sad

I have the strategy guide to use once I beat the game and I wanted to see what I miss. lol.

I use wait. But it doesn't matter since mostly I set the gambits in a way that allows me to just kill everything without using the commands at all. Well that is in easy areas mostly, but I over train my party most of the time so it's always easy.
For example, I killed the werewolves right after escaping from Barheim. Pretty much instant kill with 7 consecutive rank 1 quickenings which resulted in Cataclysm which has 110 power. The first werewolf went down instantly, the second one recieved around 2500 dmg and couple more regular attacks downed this beastie in a sec. Twisted Evil
My party was at that time
Vaan 15
Balthier 15
Fran 15
and the skinny dude that lagged way behind my party's level:
Basch 11
Werewolves are supposed to be around lvl19-21

I really like the gambit system. The game makers are giving us the ability to program the character AIs. It made the battles less of a chore compared to the previous FF titles.

I use active as well... I've become accustomed to FFXI too.. Although I haven't played it in awhile, it is still stuck in my head... Like WOW or Guild Wars...

I did not like FFXI. I have played all 3 that you've mentioned: FFXI, WoW, Guild Wars. Of all those, only game I liked enough to play more than a month was WoW. I still play WoW, though I don't really have time for WoW anymore because of FFXII now hehehe.
I really love how things are left open for you to explore more freely compared to previous FFs. The game is full of side quests as soon as it begins. There are rare monsters that spawns by chance. Treasure chests don't need to be picked up as soon as you are in the area since they respawn afterwards. Treasure chests also have drop % so that you don't always find same item from the chest.

Currently I'm grinding on the Werewolves in Giza plains so I can get Kotetsu sword. It's a rare drop which is probably about 1%, but I'm trying to get "Knight's monograph"(Forgotten Grimoire) from bazaar first; which increases drop rates on Giants and insects monsters. Werewolves are categorized as Giant class. Today I got the battle chain up to 22 on werewolves until the power went out and I lost about an hour's play... cuz you can't touch the save crystal while doing battle chain, otherwise it resets it. I'm gonna try it again after I get that Knight's monograph first.
It takes a while to do this because Werewolves are still much higher level than my party so I can only kill them by doing Quickening combos. This means I gotta regen the MP after each battle.
I get kinda obsessive on things like this... I mean my party is already way over the level appropriate for this point of the story. But this battle system let's you kill things quickly and fast without the frustration of loading times and button spamming.
