Yesterday being saturday, I spent about 7 hours killing the were wolves over and over again... Kotetsu did NOT drop. That was after 104 battle chain... I was at battle chain level 3 (which is the max) already and all I was getting was stupid pebbles instead of the kotetsu as shown in guide book's bestiary. Did they mistake pebbles for kotetsu? I now have level 21-22 party, this is before getting on Balthier's sky pirate airship for the first time.

Hi all sorry for long time offline, bz with FFXII.

I think if you so want the Kotetsu, just go on the story..
you'll able to buy Kotetsu once you finish the story at Raithwall Temple

LOL there's no point to getting it then. I wanted to be ahead of the game, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered spending so much time grinding.
I am at Raithwall Tomb and I already have 2 Demonsbane swords (better than kotetsu). I killed the optional Demonwall pretty easily at level 27. Vaan is a monster now with Demonsbane sword doing around 900 dmg per hit.

LoL, that nice to hear, 2 demonsbane.. is really awesome and dont forget to purchase Goldem Equipment set or you can find another best heavy armor type, Bone Mail set.

Btw dont forget to steal Blood sword from Seeker at there, its pretty useful with Sap ability. Nice to reduce and make sure hp enemy will not regen back.

Hehe yeah I went back and forth several times to get more than 1 Demonsbane. After the second Demonsbane, the chest just disappeared.
I knew about the bloodsword, but i didn't wanna bother with it, it's lot weaker compared to Demonsbane and I usually keep one person with bow.

I'm actually at the point where I have to go across rainy Giza Plains to get to Garif village.
I completed several of the hunts before setting out, but one particular hunt gave me quite the trouble.
The slime monster thing in the Sewers in Rabanastre, the one that ate the pudding and the broken key from the moogle.
In the guide book, this mark was listed as level 18 monster... yeah right... if that's 18, how come it gave me so much trouble with level 25-30 party?

That hunt itself was pretty tough, but just getting to that mark was challenging as well. I had to kill several Malboros which usually ganged up on me 2 at a time, had to kill a water elemental. All that depleted my mp quite a bit, and I didn't wanna run around till it was full so I charged right into the mark and fought it at half mp.

However, all that trouble didn't go unrewarded. I recieved a Yoichi bow for reward which has +75 atk power(if i remember correctly). I think I completed this hunt pretty early in the story.

One time that bow made Balthier do 1990 dmg with normal attack while in berserk mode. Which is pretty nice considering that berserked Basch only does around 1500 dmg with normal attack. I love berserk while going around normal areas, makes them react much quicker and do way more damage than they normally do.

I'm the type that likes to play the game slowly, training, exploring every area before beating the game, so I usually don't beat the game until few months later. I think getting all those optional summons will be fun. Wink

Glad to hear that but you're great can defeat White Mousse at level 25 something.. I barely make it when I was lvl 35.. err.. I dont like use quickening combo on Mark, less fun.

Yeah Blood Sword is weak compare to Demonsbane but it one of the most useful sword to used for. Example like in case of Dustia (rare game monsters).

Emm dont worry soon you'll get Ice Brand which more powerful with Ice element and quite useful to use inside Barheim Passage.

The Last boss was kind of stupid I was expecting more of a chellenge. The ending was so so, becasue I was expecting a little bit more.

overall the story line sucks, character developement was horrible. I thought it was going to be an all out war to get back the empire. No no no I was wrong, it was easier than that. but, BUT the optional bosses, monster hunt and espers were quiet entertaining if you haven't try. Don't be afraid to use mist knacks even though it takes out almost all your mp, use it with care becasue its very very powerful, "useless espers"

The Gambit system. To me i think it was very good for this kind of battle system if you know how to use it.

it seems like the characters looks suckier as the final fantasy trilogy goes a long after 7&8 there isn't any character that stands out as much as Cloud and Squall the two most awsome and most succesful lead characters.

Have anyone try playing XII without using the liscense system, that is a total challenge? Or at lease using the weapon liscense board only?

well without license
it will give you some challange
but it is still doable
the most crazy would be not leveling also...
as for me
i don't really bother with that
since i'm not an ff fanboy...
and the battle is really boring
compared to ff10
it however does have a great graphic

and no matter how other people say about the appearance
the main chara stats is rocking
