what do you think is the best anime that didn't finish or got shortened?

i liked legend of basara alot, but it only lasted 13 episodes and it looked like it was planned for 26 or more. it was cancelled i think because there was no ending really, it just stopped. i'm thinking of starting the manga to finish the story.

alternate but kinda the same- which anime had a hurried, crappy ending cuz they didn't plan right?

eva comes 1st to mind here. it is the standard for bad endings. but i think berserk is the next. it had a crazy last 2 episodes.

I'm going to try and put my vote in for an anime that I know NO OTHER PERSON will offer up as a GOOD anime that only failed and dropped off because of a lack of funding...

Hajime no Ippo. It was still the best of its kind when they stopped it and started doing OVAs instead. Too bad the Japanese don't care enough for boxing.
About Berserk, they just didn't have more manga to adapt at the time and then never continued it. The ending is awesome, it's just that it is no ending at all.

juuni kokki (12 kingdoms), that was a great anime but it got cut, if they just stoped a the end of the first season it would have been fine but no, they had to release 5 episodes form the second season and then stop making it

hajime no ippo, it would be great if they had continiued making more eps but i guess the ovas are fine

berserk, i don't remember the ending that well but after reading the manga they could have continiued for a longer time, although i don't see an easy way to end the show if it went on any longer than the 25 eps

narutaru was an odd anime, and i thought i heard somewhere that they were going to make the second season but i am not sure about that

As for Beserk, while I wasn't terribly excited by the show it is probably better that they stopped than ran on with the series w/o manga backing it. (Cough, cough.. Kenshin, cough) I guess Hellsing (And maybe Kare Kano too) could kind of fall into this category as well. Once the manga finishes its run it might be nice to see more. (maybe Gonzo will have a better budget to work with. That or maybe Kyoto Animation will pick it up and do a FMPF with it.) :P

not sure if this series fits, but I'd say Mahoromatic had a horrible ending. i culdnt believe that they totally abandoned the friends. granted they had run out of manga to base off of, i think gainax could have done better >_>. on the other hand, the recent summer special almost made up...almost =P
