Hellsing is one of the good anime tha didn't finish, they didn't follow the manga after volume 6+ and end up quite sadly. Get backers also end up quite sad and stop following the manga. Flame of Recca stop after the tournament finish, the last story (and the most attractive) about Tendou Jigoku and how the curse of hokage was lifted was completely cut off. Juuni kokki is temporarily stopped (I hope it just temporary) after the anime catch up with the novel, the novel is up to the continuation of Taiki story (yay! there you go for all of you who're disappointed with taiki's chapter). The ending in GTO didn't follow the manga.
Sad so many good anime that didn't finish (or following the manga)......... Crying or Very sad

I just watched Narutaru...
... it's good and should've been finished :/

Maybe I'd like the FY anime more if it didn't stop at book 10 too,
Fushigi Yuugi is such an awesome manga...

Definite vote for Legend of Basara--I wish they'd finish the anime, the manga's really good (yay to toot that you knew what this is).

Karekano's another that didn't have enough closure, although it had more than Basara did.

Man, how could I forget the best open ended anime I've ever watched...
Witch Hunter Robin, y'all. It's in my personal top 5. For those of you who haven't watched it yet, watch it! The ending isn't bad, it's just open. Again, best open ending I've seen.

awww, i got this on tape! hahaha. im showing my age now.
i saw the manga a few months ago and bought volume 2 (where the anime left off). its seems pretty good, but the complaint i always have with the trade paperbacks is the drawings end up small. i will keep collecting it tho.

i also think kare kano and hellsing didnt really finish.

i have heard before the reason for this is marketing- they use the animes to boost the manga sales (and overall marketing effort).
anyone else got explanations?

**** that!!! Man, if this is really the reson why great animes don't get finished, I wish that some psycho finds and kills the creators in a really horrific way. Dumbasses! Mad Evil or Very Mad

Well, I'm new here - but I thought I'd chime in Smile

Best open-ended ending - has the be FLCL - no contest. I really hope they make a sequel, but... Probably not. Second goes to Big O. Nice final ending that yet, really doesn't solve anything. Smile

Witchhunter Robin ended exactly like I thought it should - though they never played up the artifact and transfer of the anticient powers angle enough. Slick casting, btw.

Worst drag-on? Rama, no contest. Even DBZ wasn't as silly as years and years of the same thing. But at least it had an ending. The Anime - it jsut watches like a completely different creation.

As for series cut short - it has to go to Oh My Goddess(Pilot Candidate) - just getting into a good story and - yoink! Just episode after episode and then no next episode. It would be like watching Outlaw Star and having it end after 10 episodes, complete with the "next episode" bits still attached.

Man I hate when they do that.

In TV series, it had to be Farscape. That had to be the most "wha???" ending I've ever seen. Thankfully they are smart enough to be making a sequel that leaves off.(Peacekeeper Wars)

BTW I heard that they will do a movie or a LIVE series of Witch Hunter Robin, not exactly sure what. If it's a Live series that would be a big mistake. Live series are so incredibly stupid, I wonder who likes that kind of stuff. What morons. I hope that there will be a 2nd season. With this open ending it would be more than possible. And I'm sure they will think of something good enough for a 2nd season. Really hope so.

Big O *did* have a second season already, but the ending felt half-finished. I don't knwo if they want to leave it as it is or not - I have a suspicion it's done - and the ending DOES make sense if you read between the lines pretty hard. Wink

BTW - enyone notice the simmilarity between the "seed" ships in Trigun in that one episode and Blue Gender's ones near their lunar colony(which survived the whole mess intact)?
