I downloaded the recently uploaded torrent and once it was done downloading, it didn't work.

got the same problem.. no matter wat player i use, it hangs.

There are currently two groups' releases of MÄR, Nyu and c1anime. Which one is having the problem?

That said, some may find the concept and initial moments childish. Whether the company will continue with that kind of stuff is questionable. The manga starts off similarly but moves into a darker overtone soon.

The one by Nyu. The one by c1anime is the one I'm downloading now.
Also, while playing the one by Nyu, I hope I'm not crazy or anything but as it shows nothing, I see a very darkened smiley with Xs for its eyes and a frowny face.

I downloaded it and it works fine using Winamp and Media Player Classic on my machine. The very start of the video has a wierd lookin smiley face with x's for eyes so maybe it's just appearing very very dark for you. I dunno why that would be though. I havent updated my codecs in awhile either, but you might want to look into updating if theyre really out of date. Only other thing I can suggest is redownload the torrent and save to the same place and see if anything gets replaced.

I got Nyu's edition... works fine with me...

but i have to say, the OP sequence and song doesnt really clicked with the series huh??

Nyu claims that you people need to update to the latest XviD codec to make their release work. That would appear to be the 1.1.0beta2 from the XviD homepage.

Those who want to try Nyu's release download that first and feedback.

Well, I already got the c1's release(Haven't watched it yet, about to watch Heartful days and Dokuro-chan!) but I'll be sure to download the codec server just in case something like his happens again. Thanks a bunch though!

Okay, just watched it now. It seems a tab bit childish(let's just say if Toonami bought liscense to this series, I won't be mad). Hopefully it would get more darker later on in the series. I like it and I'm going to continue watching it.

I downloaded the c1's sub and it works....

As for the anime...since it was based from the manga and being I only saw the first episode, they covered much based on the manga but not all(only read the first few chapters) ...the animation is pretty good and the story I hope gets better...

I think Ginta's voice was similar to Naruto, are they voiced by same person?

Yeah the whole file is dodgy, even with the right codecs... the anime isn't that interesting for me anyway, seems like a kid's show. Animation ain't great either.
