Good book to read?

Shogun by James Clavell is good.

Then you have stuff like -- dune, hunt for red october, the jungle, 1984, don quexote (funny crazy spanish people), and red dawn rising.

anything by Amy Tan is good...anything by Jean M. Auel is good too( she wrote The Clan of the Cave Bear)...Pride and Prejudice despite being a classic, is a good, romantic story...although the original topic starter didn't want romance...

I would like to say that Jsy3k hasn't read a lot of good books, but I wont. My Family and Other Animals is really funny. It gives detailed descriptions (paragraph-ish long descriptions), but ppl can skip it. [/i]

books by Tamora Pierce are really good. Her books are like mangas that has volumes to continue the story on and stuff.. You'll get really hooked once you read the first one "Alanna, The First Adevture" which is about a twin brother and sister, who are sent to 2 diff. kinds of place for each one of them since they're growing up.. supposedly, the boy will be a knight, and the girl will learn lessons to be a housewife.. but the boy wants to be a sorcerer and the girl wants to be the knight.. so the girl pretended to be a boy and tells everyone that they are actually twin borthers not twin brother and sister.. really awesome book. It reminds me of Mulan..
