Overrated and Underrated Anime

This is just my opinons on series that I think may be overrated or underrated. I might end up getting flammed for this but I just want to get this out.

Overrated Anime:
Full Metal Alchemist - Send in the hate mail, I said it! I watched this anime bot dubbed and subbed and though I found it rather original and calming, I just can't bring myself into the series enough to discover why it is as popular as it is. I recently read a bit of the manga at my friend's home and I found the manga a lot more easier to put myself into(in other words, if the manga is as popular as the anime, I couldn't blame anyone). I think this series is pretty good but not good enough to have as many fans as greater series out there(Naruto, Detective Conan, etc.).

.hack//sign - The only thing I find worthwhile of the anime is the audio. Other than that, it's nothing more than a mediocre anime. I got the mangas myself and I find those a lot more interesting than the anime. I can't really explain myself with this opinion so I'd just end it here before I say something stupid.

Ichigo 100% - Very realistic, romantic anime, but not the very best around.The storyline is a bit cheesy and linear to have as many fans trailing behind the series as they do. I never took the time and money to read the manga but I'm sure it must be good if these many people are trailing behind it.

Underrated Anime:

Magical Canan - OMG! Someone shoot me! I can't believe I forgot to mention this genius show! I feel so insulted everytime I visit the topic mentioning all upcoming anime series because Magical Canan is simply listed as "Another magical girl anime". I find that so insulting to those who put in the effort of finding the charm and wonder of making this anime as original as possible, and they succeeded. Please people, check this series out!

Erementar Gerad - One of the most original and mysterious storylines around right now. The audio is one of my favorites and the artwork isn't anything worst than great. With this series, there are no stereotype females and predictable characters(Coud may be the ONLY exception, sometimes. He gave a bit surpise at the end of episode 2.). I don't see how a anime like this can recieve the very little feedback it gets.

Konjiki no Gashbell - Both dubbed and sub, it justb doesn't have enough fans to back up the brilliance of the anime itself. Sure, a lot of anime fans may know of the series but have you ever took the time out to compare this anime to many others?

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan!!! - One of the weirdest and cutesy anime around this year, losing all its fans over ridiculous facial expressions(VERY horrible faces. Sometimes I can't even blame these people.).

Naruto - Not that Naruto is underrated or anything but I come to find it lost a few number of fans bor running longer than some may want. I suggest that these fans stop complaining about the long running series unless they want it to end like Inuyasha. I mean, sure, it may get repetetive, but I think it's good that not all anime series end after 20+ episodes.

Yeah I totally agre that Full Metal Alchemist is over-rated, I seriously couldn't get past the second episode.
And Yakitate! Japan, the manga was awesome but when the anime came out, it was a piece of shit, it's one of those anime that I download, watch then delete. Same goes with the new Aa! Megami Sama TV series. these anime have huge reputation but are just crap.

As for the under-rated animes... let's see... I really liked Victorian Romance Emma. There hasn't been a topic made yet so I guessed that not many ppl liked this anime, I know that the character designs are questionable, but that just blends in with the beautiful storyline that it has.

Well... that's all i have to say... for now.

Ps. Ichigo 100% manga kicks the shit out of any other manga... except Yakitate.

Full metal alchemist is alright to watch but like you said way over rated. I could make it past the 1st and 2nd but no further, it's one of those shows to watch when have nothing else to watch and it's always on.

It all boils down to personal preference and taste as to what anyone thinks is over or under rated!
Neon Genesis Evangelion seems to have, for the most part, obsessive fans who think it's the best thing ever, or the ones who hate it with avengence! I fall in the middle, as I actually saw this anime way back in the mid 1990's before it got all the current day hype, when it was only available on a Pioneer dubbed video tape! I bought it originally because the picture of Shinji reminded me of Tenchi from the Tenchi Muyo OVA I had just watched!!
I don't believe Monster is under rated, more over looked!!
My preferences with anime are mainly shoujo and romance anime, Sailor Moon being my all time favourite anime! I know a lot of people detest Sailor Moon but that is just their opinion and differing tastes!!
There is one anime I will mention that I think is overlooked, rather than under rated and that's Dual: Parallel Trouble Adventure. It's very funny, a little bit romantic and has some cool mechs!

Hmm, Monster. That must be overlooked because I only heard of it once and from what I heard, it wasn't that interesting. Maybe I should check it out.

Another underrated series is ~Heartful Days~. I just got done from watching the 2nd episode and I found this romance/harem series very heartwarming and cutesy, with fluffy humor all the way through. If you haven't checked that series out, I recommend it.

I think Evangelion was too overrated but still a good show, and underrated maybe Kimiga it had a real goog story and the characters life where really great.

I just watched Pretty Cure and I think that series is waaaaaaaaay underrated!!!! People claim it's a Sailor Moon rip-off but besides the fact that it's a magical girl series, there isn't nothing much you xcan compare to the series that you can't compare with others as well. Newsflash people, Sailor Moon is not the only magical girl series out there, and as far as I'm concern, Pretty Cure has a lot going for it.

I can.t understand why this dragonball clone is so popular. I watched up to ep 70 and deleted it, grew tired of the predictable storyline and cheesy action.

Underated
Key: the metal idol
One of the most beautifull stories I ever read anime or non-anime wise. It's one of those that touches you deep inside, and makes you want to watch it again to see if it's actually true

yeah, flame me all you want, I do admire naruto for its popularity. But DB Z is also popular and I find it horrible, so...

I think that Gantz is underrated its got a good story (never know whats going to happen next) excellent action (never know who is going to survive) and the character development isn't like any other manga I've encountered.

-Real boring, i thought episode one was supposed to capture something. I read the manga also, and still i forced myself to read it because i was bored.
