boo i havent found any interesting mmorpgs in the making yet
first i was really hyped on SWG, but then everyone i know thats a MMORPG junkie thought it sucked so i didnt bother. and i have this feeling that WoW will suck too, since blizzard made diablo, and it kinda feels like WoW will be a massive multiplayer diablo hack n slasher
ryzom looked cool last time i checked though, dont know whats happened since i last visited the page
but that $0 a month game sounds interesting, got url?

my vote is, now and forever, for World of Warcraft
unlike most other mmorpgs where grinding is the name of the game and quests are that little twitch in ur side u never really bother with, WoW is all about the questage. read up on sum reviews from game reviewers at places like gamespy, gamespot, ign, and ull see how much WoW is going to, and already does, pwn _________________

| www.guildwars.com is the url for mean bean dude. and since were talking about WoW and GW, the guys who are making guild wars are the guys responsible for the mega hits diablo and starcraft. this said when i look at a game like World of warcraft, i have to wonder will it be as good without these guys. Anyway my vote still stands for GW but im keeping an eye out for WoW and linage 2 |

*is on WoW like fat boy on a cupcake
iv been a blizzard fanboy, so lets be blunt, im biased. but i still believe WoW will blow you away, n00bs and jaded mmorpg'rs alike. instead of farming or grinding, WoW is quest after quest. u develop your character while performing tasks for npcs; and the back stories to these quests suck you in, so you really feel like you've accomplished sumthing. while in other mmorpgs, where most ppl will jst find a tank to lvl up a new char, you will actually want to play through the game, find new quests you havnt done on your other chars. WoW will b uber, to say the least =D _________________

Well it's not really anticipation any more, but I'd like to congratulate NCSoft for how fantastic City of Heroes turned out to be. I've been playin' since the end of beta, and I have to say that they've made leaps and bounds in this game... they've created a world in which you can have interesting and difficult challenges while at the same time feeling very uber and cool. I may or may not ended up getting WoW when it hits the shelves now... depends on how hooked on CoH I still am...
If there's anyone else playing, feel free to look me up. I play on the Justice server... either White Spy (lvl 25 assault/devices blaster) or Recca (lvl 13 going on lvl 20 fire/ice tanker). _________________ You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket. |

The recent trend for mmorpgs is been quest based gain sytems. When the true first mmorpg came out it was highly critisized and not very well accepted. It hung in there and now some seven years later it has become the base of the mmorpg "fad". This game was Ultima Online(Six years runnin ) and it started the trend with a treadmill gain system. What happened is People like me now have had 6 years of fighting and we have established a big gap between good and bad. This game while still being an amazing game has now been turned into a guina(sp) pig for the gaming industry. They realized that the seamless World of many online people would sell but not with the current system. NOw whats happening is games are making quest based gain systems to offset this. While i have not looked at wows quest system, if i am correct it will follow uo and youll have a gap of all the time uber questers and the newbie some of the time questors. If im wrong i apologize but the first real step ive seen done to really fix this is in guild wars. Its quest based also but the way theyve done it in the quests a 5 day old newb in the game could possibly beat a 2 year vet. It also has amazing graphics and some new streaming technology that blows me away but for these reasons i must remain with my decision that guild wars is my most anticipated game of 2k4. Also the 0 per month is not hurting it |

| Actually i may have to scratch what ive said in my other posts. Guild wars is certainly up there as far as Great games. But theres another game out ther thats begging for attention. Tabula Rasa (in latin it means blank slate). Ive posted a thread about it and its got a link to a site that does a better job explaining it, but for some reason the uniqeness of the game and its features are bringing it neck and neck with my other choice. The designer, richard garriot, is also the creator of Ultima Online which i mentioned in other post(big fan) and this is leading me to think this game will be just as great. He changed the world with uo and from the news im hearing hes going to try it again. |

Hmm... yeah... the above games are all pretty good, but come on people... how can you not bow down to the sequel to "EVERCRACK?"
WoW looks incredible, but from what I've heard, it's quite a ways off because they aren't even close to balancing the character types, or implement features such as PvP and whatever. Come on... it's Blizzard... they'll never let a game go on shelves unless it's absolutely perfect. Lineage 2 just came out, and it was bashed by reviewers for being a rehash of those old RPGs designed for Asians with Masochistic streaks (hunting the same rabbit down over and over... PvP discouraged... no epic fights yet because of lack of implementation). No improvements to the genre whatsoever. City of Heroes, I've heard a lot of good things about, but I've also read that it's very repetitive (get quest from citizen, fly somewhere, bash bad guy... rinse and repeat). However, it's just started, and when the release the expansion "City of Villains," next year, I'm pretty sure I'll start playing it. The draw to be a villain is too great...
But yeah... Everquest 2... this has the most potential to be a great MMORPG. The first game is supposedly the most addictive game ever released, and even now has a huge fanbase. But dated graphics and simplistic gameplay turned me away. Not to mention the fees required back when I didn't have a steady flow of cash. The designers has extreme experience at MMORPGs... so you know EQ2 will be fun and very polished, not to mention stable.
Guild Wars... I heard it was supposed to be good, but the previous post made me reconsider that. I'll have to wait until reviews come out for it.
That's the problem with MMORPGs... you can't take chances. Plop down 50$ for the game, then over 10$ a month. Usually, the first few months suck, since there's a lack of content, but it gets better as it goes. Whatever... |

| Everquest is a wast of time and money. It hooks you by promising a better game the better you get. Thing is is that theres always a better placr to get to. It brought the same values into online gaming that uo did and in turn benifited from increased publicity. Its hard on begginers and even if your good its no fun. The seconed lookes like the first only with new graphix and an easier start for begginers. Not on my top 5 most anticipated. |
