lol like most people that've watched this series in like 1 day and a 1/2 just so addicting it was amazing.
about the ending.
When you look closely at Renton and Eureka in the forest try to take a good look at the moon. Its turned backwards so pretty much they're stuck on the other end of the planet I'm guessing.
Thats not how it went in the ending....
There not stuck on the real earth when they were about to combine with the brain coral the nirvash let them out of the tree and told them to live on earth with there friends and show that a coralian and a human can live together and be happy. So they went back to the earth with the trapar waves and thats where you see them at the end..you know this because Axel also states that Renton was the first of his family who left and then came back hes also holding the paper showing that renton and eureka have custody over the three children so there "Techniacally" married but its not like they werent gonna stay together forever if there love for each other was so strong that they freakin engraved it in the moon"
The male lead Renton is an idiot whose actions and personality actually pissed me off. Coupled with the series trying to promote the "activity looked upon as stupid will save the world and everyone should learn it" theme for air-surfing, it demeans itself in my eyes.
Personally, I think the air-surfing mechs are badly designed in the sense that the use of a surfboard is needless when they could have integrated its technology into wings on the back ( ala Freedom Gundam ) or onto the soles of the feet. Making a mech lug around a surfboard is pretty silly.
this show is kind of silly.... (the animation is kind of FLCL meets Last Exile which is cool)
But I think the show SO FAR has a good emotional center in its lead. I didn't find him that stupid... just an average disillusioned kid who fits the:
*takes deep breath*
"I want to be strong to protect my important person/ideals but I'm weak/stupid but I'm actually not I have ultimate power that just needs to be unlocked by hard work or whatever else(i.e. transformation or obtaining a super-powerful robot/ultimate weapon" archetype... man, its gettting old but I guess thats shounen's crux....
It appeals to me particulary: growing up in suburban Orange County where the people are as mundane and superficial as their political belifs, I felt alot like the main character... stuck in the worst possible locale (I could stick a Canada joke in here but I'll restrain myself). Also, skate/surf/snowboard culture is huge in California (and apparently growing in Japan) so the show will have an audience.
As far as the mecha design is concerned, sure its impractical... but in Gundam Seed the X-series (buster,aegis,duel,blitz) are shown riding on hover boards as well.... though they looked less cool.... sometimes wow-factor overwhelms logic.... (as long as it doesn't come off as gimmicky)
bottome line, at least they're not just cloning the Gudam/NGE story.... yet....hopefully it will be deeper than just trying to garner ratings...
How is it silly besides the ref boards?
I admit the whole auir surfing repelled me from watching it in the first place. But it's better than most or all Gundam shows.
Agree with dusk. Anyway the mecha design don't look as good as those in gundam...however, the way the characters reffing certainly looks cooler than those characters in gundam.
I just watched this series and need HELP! Ep 49 and 50 left me undone. It doesn't help that the VCD I have looks like it used google to do parts of its English translation so I am left totally and utterly clueless as to the ending.
Can someone please explain to me the ending? Are they still alive? What is the conclusion? Do both parties co-exist peacefully?
