yea, I was kinda wandering about that myself since I have yet to see half of them. Maybe the series will stretch longer than I expected. |

Hmm... got to agree on that...
Putting these aside... do you guys realise that ep13 onwards Froth-Bite change their file format to something different, previously I watch using DIVX player but ep13 onwards i have to use other software...
Try and see... I wonder what they change? |

A note with the character introductions:
There are 22 people in the opening and 5 haven't been introduced, so while that might seem like a lot, it's probably not a particularly big deal.
Break down of the Pan scene is this: (Non-introduced characters in bold)
old guy w/eyepatch
girl with mallet & pink yukata
red-haired classmate of Asami (ep 5)
blond-haired classmate of Asami (ep 5)
Purple-haired maid
and girl behind her
Asami (obvious...)

So that explains a lot. A lot of the people are classmates of the characters. I would still like names of them though.

Tamami's classmate doesn't get a name yet, but
Shirogane-sensei is Shiratori's teacher (his classmates don't have names yet either).
Asami's classmates are:
Sa-chan (redhead) Mi-chan (blonde).
The girl with the mallet & pink yukata is actually introduced (briefly) in ep 12--she hands Asame a beachball (her name may be Maihiru). From what it looks like, they'll all be introducduced by ep 23 except for the airline lady.

In Episode 14, when we found out
that Kozue's parents died three years ago
, I thought this was introduced to explain why Kozue has multiple personalities.
That 'disappear' was the keyword to trigger the emergence of Natsume, the personality who's a complete shut-in with no self-confidence and a degree of pessimism made me wonder if Kozue's parents abandoned her or if she'd had a fight with them the last time she saw them - or even if one or both parents considered her to be worthless - after all, we don't know how they died [car crash or the like seems probable] - and Shiratori is not aware of their deaths until Kozue mentions it - did they have a falling out with the family? I would have thought that if they were sending him to stay with Kozue, that they would be aware of her parents' deaths and would have told Shiratori about the situation so as to avoid bringing up something painful

Shiratori generally gets along with most of them - mostly Saki since she's been around more than the others - but he also got along with the child-like Nanako, and the first time she appears when Shiratori's around, he succeeds in communicating with Natsume where the others have failed in the past. I think a lot of this has to do with there being part of Kozue in all of them, and as it has been noted in the past, Kozue's been waiting for him to arrive, and even Tamami sees that Shiratori's presence makes Kozue happier. It seems pretty clear to me that Shiratori's attraction to Kozue is reciprocated (note
the somewhat jealous/depressed response when Kozue knocks on Shiratori's door in Episode 11 when he's out with Momono
), but neither have the nerve to move it forward.
I would be most curious to know what
Kozue was going to yell into the trumpet/monument in Episode 12. While it might have been what she said later in the episode (that she was thankful she'd met everyone in their group), She did hesitate and ask Shiratori to ask her again later when he asked her about it later at the beach.
In other news, Episodes 16 and 17 have both been posted. I've posted the torrents in the New Torrents section of the forums.
Episode 16 sees the blonde girl in the green school uniform and her maid appear, as do Asami's classmates, Shiratori's teacher and classmates, and the president of Tamami's occult club who loves being insulted/disparaged

Wow! You put a lot of thought into how she got the personalities!
Especially with how the word "disappeared" triggered Natsume. I think Natsume was actually her 1st mutiple personality.
I also got to say,
I think Kozue's parents probably abandoned her because of her personalities. I really think that the word "disappeared" means a lot to Kozue for a reason. I guess we'll discover why in the future.

Yay for new episodes! If you ever notice such things with Mahoraba can you post in here again too? I never check the new torrent thread since I can't use bittorrent.
I'd also be incredibly interested in episode 12 and. . . (check previous spoiler text) since that could have been reasonably significant in proving other thoughts about Kozue.
I like the idea about the personalities and why they exist though: maybe in the end they will all end up resolved because of Shiratori's influence so that Kozue becomes more like each of them (in terms of their good points, that is).

For those interested, a group called Hiyoko_no_GAO has begun scanlating the Mahoraba manga

The first three volumes cover most of what's been in the anime to date, and the anime stays mostly true to the manga (sequence varies, and there are some parts in the manga that aren't in the anime, and vice versa). But the animation keeps very true to the artwork of the manga as well. There are some elements of some of the characters that have been modified from the manga as well. The scanlation is generally very good, although they seem to have missed one frame in one chapter of Volume 2 (when
Kozue takes Shiratori rice-bowl shopping, and Shiratori does something that he doesn't in the anime which I thought was something that could have been done in the anime
).
If you like the anime, I think it's highly likely you'll enjoy the manga just as much.
That said, I hope Froth-Bite bring out Episode 18 soon. |

i dont think 'disappeared' was a keyword for kozue-chan to change personalities. I think she loved and got into his story so much that when "it" disappeared she was truley shocked about it. At the end of the ep he tells her that is a happy ending so she should hear the whole story out or something like that!
Just started watching ep16 and it says its a one hour spring special but my timer on the media player i use counts 24.09 mins O.o. Am i missing something here? |

And now they've released 19-21 as well... yikes O_O.
I'll download them now and see what they're like, but I'm pretty happy with Froth-Bite's subs.
Unfortunately, I'm impatient like that. I'll download the first available sub, then download my regular group's when it's released... |

Trust me, I do the same. Vagrnt i definetely different with more than the fansubbing. Their quality of the video is so much brighter and they fansub quite different, in words and style.
