I'm a hooked little crack monkey Exclamation

The problem is that I don't nessisarly like it as much as I used to, but I keep playing it. I guess that I have a hard time dropping somesomething I have so much time invested in.

What I love about this game is the interaction with other ppl. I'm a hardcore tabletop gamer from way back, so I loved that fact the I was playing the game with other ppl and not just by myself.

I also dig the fact that I can play with ppl that I know in the real world. As time progresses it becomes harder and harder to spend time with your friends. Most my friends live in the city, which is a 45 minute trip just to get there. It's so much easier to meet online, as sad as it is...

Now, my BIG complaint; gaining gold, gaining xp and completing quests are 3 totaly seperate things. After hitting a certain level most quest can't be completed without the help of higher level fiends. Then, there's the fact that you get the same treasre from a 1st level mob and a 50th lvl mob.

Gah...!!! Evil Final Fantasy!! Curse you!!!!

I know where you're comin' from Tuna... I'm in the exact same boat. The whole reason I started playing MMORPG's in the first place was so that I could hang out with my old tabletop friends after we all went off to college. BUT! You have more choices for games if you want to get away from FFXI. Currently out and a BLAST to play, City of Heroes. You and your friends can fly, jump, teleport, run around Pargon city, where you can fight crime, gain influence, level up and gain more and more super powers. Game soon to come that would also be a good alternative to the evil that is FFXI is Worlds of Warcraft... in this case it's the same genre of mmorpg, fantasy, magic, swords and gods; but I've heard nothing but good things about it from beta testers and the game is already getting a huge cult following. Chances are that when it comes out I'll pick up a copy of it as well and then I'll have two great mmorpg's with completely different settings that I can switch between...

Anyway, my point is... you have alternatives...

hi im new to the forums. i play ffxi too. i love it, but i wish the pace of the game was a bit faster. i've been playing since launch and im only rank 4 in the game. i dont spend too many hours at a time and it shows. the friends i've met in the past are nearing lvl 75 already. its embarrassing too.

im on cerberus server btw

Yeah i guess if your gonna get wet you might as well go swimming. Most people play mmorpgs way to much. And others play too little. Thats how you get such level gaps. Games are working to fix this though.

wow, keitarou even tho i've NEVER played an MMORPG besides FFXI i do believe i think where ur comin from..i do have to admit..i would like it if there were some race-specific jobs like if a mithra (which is wut i am Smile

) had their own jobs.....like maybe THF or RNG since they OWN in that area! but hey, wut can ya do....i am also hooked on this game and i enjoy playin it a lot!
