| This is really a question of Utilitaian verses Universalist additudes. Since I'm a universalist I have to side whith L he is on the side of true good acording to Kantian ethics.The whole premis of this manga is horrifically unoriginal this debate been in progress for for 400 offically years. Kira is a Utilitarian and L is (to a certain degree) a Univeralist both of their views are horrifically clouded by Arogance and an insane will to be superior to others honestly I don't really care |

Um Universalists are people who essentially beleive the end does not justfiy the means they follow a branch of ethic established by a Philosipher named Kant. L dosnt' really deserve to be called a Universalist becuase he does evil stuff to to catch Kira but Univeraslism is his general stance
Utilitarians basically believe that the right or wrong of an anction is bases up on the totall units of happieness it creats. Most honest Utilitarians woud be against Kiras actions anyway but he roughly fits that philosophy
Here's an easy way to determine wheth you are Universalist or Utilitarian:
God appears before in all this divine glory carrying a newborn babe and offers you a choice, IF YOU KILL THIS BAB I WILL END ALL WARS FOREVER the is absolutly no doubt to his honesty so do you kill the baby?
If feel obligated to chose yes as much as you hate the difficult choice then you are Utilitarian
If you are totally unwilling to kill the baby then you are an Univeralist
If you enjoy killing babys for shit's and giggles then you're kindof an evil bastard |
