why is evangelion flawed and why is it hated by a lot

I wasn't aware that NGE was "hated".. in fact, I had the complete opposite opinion about that, I thought it was too damn "loved" by too many people..

But yes, I think it's very flawed and has a weird ending (made specifically to make people wonder about what happened..).

The serie was pretty good. But what made me drop my mark on it is the end, I really just hated the end of evangelion. really crappy ending.

I just really really hated every character besides the penguin. They all annoyed me, Shinji the most. Plus, I am biased to the point that I dislike pretty much any mecha anime. I'm weird like that.

Its one of the most depressing animes out there. I like stories that are uplifting and have at least SOME modicum of hope, this one has none. It also has one of the worst endings of any anime I have watched. In addition, the main character is truly annoying to watch. Shinji will certainly win the "Anime character in most need of a spine" award.

i like NGE and i like open endings because i get to wonder what happens after. when u have an ending like in I"s it's like BLAH!!

impossible to hate eva, it is a classis anime that dug deep into a person's mind and characteristic. Althogh me, myself does not understand the anime fully either, having watched it (the series and movies) for over 5 times. i believe it is the style of the plot development made the series more complex, where it switches around scenes and sectors of the story, e.g. some episode reflects the current events, and the next scene or episode u see is a reflection of past events. In addition to the complexcity of this series, most people watch this just for the violence actions (such as myself) you really need to analyize Shingi's every speech, or action, or imagination speechs ( such as the episode where he got stuck inside the eva and talked to Aska and many other female leads on the train) to fully understand what kind of a person shinge really is.

p.s. in the movie, the conversation of shinge and ray is very important, from it you can get a really brief idea of what the series is or simply what shinge thought.

yea i never heard anyone hating on evangelion. i love it even though i didn't like the ending. the ending is just all of them going crazy... guess they couldn't solve their issues. and hte movie was great also but the last part they translated it wrong i think. when asuka told shinji that he's an idiot when she saying she's hurt. i think long time ago since i watched it..

I believe NGE is a great series even though I found it to be extremely confusing... along with insane at some points. I think that some people hate NGE because it has some at-home topics.... problems within the family and problems between peers at school and where they live.
But I still think that NGE is a great series... BUT not the greatest.

personally i don't like the Evangelian series....it seemed as if Shinji's character never grew throughout the entire series..at the end he still felt sry for himself....but yea...never really heard of any1 h8ing it..i just don't believe that it was that original. The only NEAR to kewl action scenes was at the very end when Aska fought like hell to survive. But i really disliked how they actually showed real pics. of ppl in a crowd....i mean it's suppose to be an anime, not a reality t.v. show.

The fact that everyone hates Shinji kinda makes this anime more personal. Shinji is that whiny little kid that never grows up.

Evangelion is probably my favorite series for couple reasons.

It was my second real anime, I only watched Gundam Wing on TV before that.

Its excellent characterization made the futuristic world more believable.

I didn't fully understand it when I watched it, I always felt it baited you to dig deeper. Always hooking you on little information here and there and left you to put together the puzzle. This stayed true to the very end when even the ending is mysterious =)

Dark underplot with conspiracies and betrayals. Nice mecha action, the main characters are far from invincible (aka Gundam).

Probably the only anime that made me go online and search out information on it AFTER I watched it. I probably spent months hooked on evangelion reading people's essays and opinions on significant events and quotes from the series/movies.

The only anime that I went out and read fan fics.

The only anime that I went out and made a website for (sadly its gone and all the files are lost).

There's something about evangelion that it doesn't matter how many times you watch it, it still stays myterious and you pick up new things on it but yet when someone asks you to give a detailed synopsis, you really can't say because there seems to be so many things happening and implied that you can't possibly name everything.

I don't think people hate evangelion, but they dislike it because everyone claims its the best anime ever. There's really no such thing like 'best anime ever' but there is your own personal favorite. I think its more of a 'Narutard' reaction than people actually hating the anime.
