Gunnm in my memory can be pretty sick.
The manga is really gory, but the anime as some good scene also. Good fights. |

Most violent in terms of what I have seen thus far.....
1. Gungrave is pretty violent in terms of the shooting. I think the violence is enhanced by the fact that there is almost zero humor in the series and it is very serious.
2. Evangelion is prettty violent, especially End of Evangelion. There are several scenes in which the EVAs are destroyed and becuase of their biological nature, they seem to be more like humans being masacred instead of robots or machines being destroyed.
3. For me, the most violent anime scen I have scen is the beginning of Samurai X Trust. |

1. Ninja Scroll --- not the oav but the movie! i just can't forget the blade stucked on the head of that huge bafoon
2. Samurai X OAV --- i like the way kenshin slashes trough the nimbu wolves like there is no bones left in their body err... like his sword is so sharp that not even bone of the body can dent it
3. Angel Sanctuary --- Angels + demons + revolution + incest = hell
4. fist of the north star --- no way out brawl... the best fighting anime i've ever seen esp the efects when the enemy body has been removed to its soul. the best!!! _________________

Violence is so overdone. What gets to me is the few that have really really disturbing mental images or just plain mess with your head.
Most of these, though, bridge the gap between Anime and real-life Japanese movies.
Most violent movie? That once a couple years back that was banned in Japan - I forget the name. All those kids trapped on an island killing each other. Really brutally violent - yet my friends and I conldn't stop laughing like crazy at it. "God, these are great cookies..."
Best mind-trip? Perfect Blue. It's really disturbing - and builds nicely to a very disturbing ending. Pokemon this isn't. What gets me about it is that you aren't sure what is reality and what isn't - and by the end, it's just too fractured to tell. I like the almost manga-esque stills in her mind as reality is still moving around her(mostly through audio cues).
This has to be the best look inside someone as they loose touch with reality that I've seen to date - because there are things that you can do with Anime that you can't do with real life actors.
Oh - when they say "not for young audiences" - this would be definately NC-17 in the U.S. A great watch, but it will give you bad dreams for a week. No joke - if you're reading this forum and are under 18, don't rent this film - it will mess with your head pretty badly. I was 30 when I saw it and it still wigs me out thinking about it. |

| I was at an anime showing and they showed BOTH movies that night - in a row. First the Battle Royale and then Perfect Blue - by the end, the crowd was not quite laughing anymore. Definately the most disturbing night at the movies I've been to to date. |

Hmm.... Elfen Lied looks really bad! And I saw recently Shin hokuto No Ken (New Fist Of THe NOrth Star OVA), it's quite violent too. Heads and body exploding with brains and guts spilling all over the place.
As for movies, I heard Ichi the killer was bad, there was rape cum torture in the first scene. I saw Versus too, a jap movie about zombies, that was pretty violent.... Man, japs are scary..... Who would ever think about tentacle rape and rip.... |

| No kidding. Reminds me of an anime version of Battle Royale with even more blood and less qualms about killing. |
