Out of everything I've watched/seen, it'd either be Gantz or Berserk.
I've seen Berserk anime and manga, so I know the massacre is pretty fucked up in both, but... I have no idea how the anime of Gantz is - I've never seen it. Only read the manga.
Ah well. They're both totally gory but great. :D |

Perfect Blue is *kind of* Anime(more of an animated movie) - but it's as disturbing as Elfen Lied. It's the other kind of violent - less graphic visually/blood and gore, but no less powerful. The kind of violent that you watch grow and creep up on you.
Not recommended for young persons, though - it WILL give you bad dreams that won't go away easily. It messed my mind up and I was nearly 30 when it came out. They checked IDs at the door as well - nobody under 18 was admitted. Almost Hitchkock-esque in how it pulls you in and burrows its way into your head - all the while with some really disturbing visuals as the main character's world starts to crumble around her, bit by bit.
We all felt exhausted walking out of the theatre. Nobody talked much - even the person showing it(who hadn't seen it but was a seasoned Anime club president) almost left the theatre. Jokes stopped. All noise stopped in the theatre. A pervaseive sense of evil and dread hung in the air.
But - that's why you GO to scary movies. To get scared.
Single most violent episode in an Anime series? Blue Gender had a couple of really messed up episodes. What they cut out of the U.S. distribution is all the really graphic stuff that - well - it's really messed up. The one with the little girl he tries to save on that island - that's just unbelieveable to watch the first time. My jaw dropped and I actually yelled at the screen.
But not every episode like Elfin Leid. Very much like the computer game Alice. The same disturbed psychotic messed up mind in a sweet little girl's body. Too bad EA finally took down the website - it was classic. |

What I recommended is a good starter. Blue Gender and Perfect Blue are pretty violent and satisfying. I like how realistic and harsh Blue Gender is - it's refreshing in a way. We also don't get told half of what's going on, which make it feel like real life. Most Anime overexplains everything to the point where it doesn't feel like anything else is going on outside of the story.
I've been watching quite a few others. Violence isn't hard to actually find. Witch Hunter Robin would actually be my top series pick, though. It's unforgivingly violent in almost every episode and builds to a distrubing ending. Yet, there's a real story going on. Extremely slick. |

Cooking Master Boy, the only story where someone gets stabbed and cooks while stabbing. With an evil cooking cult that plans to bend an emperor's will with food.
Otherwise, I think Love Hina would be violent, that's the only story where I see the same guy get hurt in every episode for the most trivia things he does and doesn't do. |

that's the most violent anime you've seen?
can't comapare that to something like Elfen Lied, or Ninja Scroll.....
i haven't seen Cooking Master Boy, but by the way you describe it, it seems more like comedy to me. and Love Hina.... Violent? it's true that keitaro gets beated in every episode, but in a funny way. you don't get to see to much blood and guts flying all over the place in Love Hina.
(come to think, what whould happen if Naru had a vector....) _________________

There was this hentai I saw where they inserted a spikey rod up somebody's *blank* because that clan member disobeyed the laws of their clan and had *blank* with a prisoner.
Elfen Lied, isn't that violent! Hearts flying around, Legs flipped over your head, arms being torn apart, bones crushed and torn, heads decapitated. Sounds like physical anatomy to me. |

I think Violent would be eatting your soup instead of drinking it.
and all those hentai monsters getting their tentacles chopped off.
I mean that's my cousin right there.

Elfen Lied not only has the gore but its music is spectacular. The opening song in Latin is very memorable.
'Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust' has its moments of hack 'n slash.
'Blood: The last Vampire' is very gory (Although incredibly unsatisfying story)
'Reign: the Conqueror' does not have alot of blood in it but its definately violent and has that kind of artwork that messes your head up (same guy who drew aeon flux) |
