It is said that you need to remove your battery when the laptop is running on AC power.. Is that true? On what basis does that degenerate the battery life span? _________________

The reason i bought a laptop is to prevent data loss whenever there is power failure and by removing the batteries, what's the point of buying it?
I have heard that removing the rechargeable batteries if you don't use it for a long period (a month or so) will make the life span longer (maybe a little...) _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine.

I suppose most laptop batteries are made of Lithium Ion content. The battery life span of a typical Lithium Ion battery is about 500 charges, so after about 500 charges, your battery life will be almost dead. However, battery life span can be shortened by constantly charging the battery when the charge is not depleted, so the amount of charges left will be reduced. So it is best that you remove the battery from the laptop while using the A/C power, and make sure your battery is fully used up before charging again.

In the first place, if you're running on AC power, you wouldn't be needing your battery module, so give it a break. It can even be used as your backup source when you are not powered via AC later. Laptop battery modules tend to overheat as well. Be it laptop or mobile or anything else at that, what good will it do if you keep draining and charging your batteries simultaneously? It just doesn't make much sense to me
i agree with lucifer... i mean, if there was a sudden power-cut you would lose all your stuff because you dont have a battery
also, even tho liang is right and that you can recharge more if you deplete the whole battery before recharging, it's only a very little bit, and sooner or later, youd have to change the battery...

i guess if the battery is fully charge, the power wont be taken from the battery but from the Ac Supply itself. Not sure about this but usually when the battery is charging, there is an icon stating that it is charging. _________________
