ASUKA-SAMA!!!! And REI-SAN!!! [Now with Poll!!]

Just about anybody I know has NO idea what Neon Genesis Evanglion is. So, to show them what they're missing, I drew this. Asuka Langley Soryu in her schollgirl uniform! *drool!*

I also drew up Miss Rei Ayanmi, because for some reason every otaku in anime fandom is smitten by her. Can sum1 explain this to me, please? Is it b/c she has big breasts? What is it?! I just don't get it!!

And don't forget to vote in my leeeeetle poll, ppl! It'll make me feel all validated and stuff!

Hm, let's see....
The drawings are overall pretty good except the facial expressions (they're good but Asuka's face is bit too long and Rei's head looks good except that the eyes, nose, lips don't match with her head.) Ah, maybe it's just me but Rei's right arm is a bit too fat.

Lol, I'm not sure but I think that their bodys weren't so matured like in yours drawings but they look very good. Also, it's really not important but... Asuka's hair... wasn't it longer?

Lol, but I like your art, I love how you detailed everything, the clothes look awesome, please post some more when you can. ^__^

Ps: Ah, Asuka's right arm look also a bit fat and her hand is too small and so are her fingers.)

And true, why is Rei so famous... maybe it's because her red eyes and her blue hair makes her look hot in a japanese perspective?

Well, your drawings are alright. With the exception of the hands being a bit out-of-proportion, you did a very nice job. The poses seem well-done, though I have a little to critique about Asuka's pose. I'll give you props for attempting to draw her pulling down her eyelid and sticking her tongue out: it's a hard position to draw, especially given that you tried a realistic style of sketching.

You could definitely use some more practice on the faces. Since I'm taking a drawing class, I can give you some pointers about facial proportion (Note that I copied all of these off my art teacher's website) :

~The eyes are halfway between the top of the head and the chin.
~The bottom of the nose is halfway between the eyes and the chin.
~The mouth is halfway between the nose and the chin.
~The corners of the mouth line up with the centers of the eyes.
~The top of the ears line up above the eyes, on the eyebrows.
~The bottom of the ears line up with the bottom of the nose.

In case you like visuals, here's a pic I found:

For both girls, you definitely needed to move their mouths and noses downward, especially in Rei's case.
For Asuka's pose, it might have been easier to draw her holding down her left eyelid. That way, her right eye might not have looked so out-of-place.

I think your style of faces is very unique and interesting, and I'm not going to tell you that you should change them and make them more realistic, but they do need more work - I dont think its completely a matter of proportions - I think that having more realistic proportions here would take away from whats interesting about them. It might possibly be the angles. I'm not sure...I'll come back and take a closer look when I am not as sleepy.

hand proportion looks a bit weird.. but i agree with mandypaw about the style of faces... it is quite unique makes the drawings look a bit more interesting. And the clothing is very nicely drawn.

I would like to thank everyone who's posted comments about my work, especially mandypaw and Akashi. In the next week I hope to have revised versions of both drawings for your approval. While some comments have been less encouraging than others, many posters have given me considerable material to consider in my revisions. Come back in a week (or two...) and I'll show the finished product.

You are very welcome, and I want to see more of your drawings.

Also, I dont think I stated it above, but you've handled the clothing very well, especially in the drawing of Asuka. Good job! I'd like to see you have some fun with different clothing, I think you would work really well in that area if you enjoy it, and I'd also like to see you develop your drawings more, to give them a finished and more professional look (this can be done simply by cleaning up the lines).
