I mentioned Kare Kano because the manga recently ended. If the manga ended and the anime covers about half of it, why not make a second season with the part we did not read? And yes, do you have any idea how hard it is to import books to where I live? and the taxes I have to pay? I even got to send tokyopop an e-mail asking how and they said "we don.t ship out of Canada or United States".
I still disagree with those that say that when something gets lots of episodes it gets bad (hence the reason we think it is good, not so many episodes). I gave good examples like GTO, prince of tenis, Captain Tsubasa, Saint Seiya, HNG, HNH, even Monster! Not every big anime is crap. I just request a decent ending to some of the best animes out there, that's all :/
I live in the UK and I buy my manga online. There are places that stock manga, which is a much better option than going directly to the publishers.
There are plenty of things I can't lay my hands on because of my location, but there are many options for manga purchases.
BTW where do you live?
There are lots of series that I would love to see a continuation of, but it's not going to happen (or very unlikely to), it's just something you have to learn to live with. You may find that now Kare Kano has finished, an animation company may very well contemplate a second season. I stopped living in hopes about things like this years ago, as it rarely happens! (13 years as an anime fan can leave you feeling pretty pessimistic about these things ).
There are some good long running series, the same as there are some rubbish ones, but it's all to do with viewing figures and sales figures, not how much people outside of Japan love or hate them!!
I live in portugal. Last time I ordered something from the outside I payed twice the price of the DVD's in taxes (more or less)
so imagine, if I make a 150$ order I'd end up paying around 400$. Is it worth it?
if you happen to know any european shops with titles like kare kano or GTO feal free to pm me, I'd love to buy them
Most anime that r for children (Zatch Bell,Pokemon,Yu-gi-oh) get a ton of episodes due to the fact that children audience bring in alot of money (merchandises and such) so if the series were never ending (This is in my opinion) then more children will keep watching and tons of money will roll in.
Well, those types of anime that have hundreds of episodes are all dragged out and milked dry; like DragonBall. It began as a decent series but after everthing was over they kept extending it, dragging the plot out. And now you get DBZ, DBG, and all that crap. Most short series are better than the dragged out ones, there are less fillers and there's more content in each episode. Sadly the same thing is happening to Naruto, the manga and anime plot are seperating and it is being prolonged. Overall shorter series are good because the value and meaning of them would not be the same if it's dragged out, like DragonBall. _________________ ...

I think it's about merchandize...........the more they sell, the more they make, the more they keep selling...............
The problem is that what sells more is more childish than others, I know DragonBall is not REALLY childish, but think about it in general lines.....Digimon is one too.......and well, we all know the story on YuGiHo Card game!!!!
