| A good way to learn manga drawing is looking at others' work, try to copy them, then draw your own. |

| Drawing copies of other works is a great way to learn and a lot of fun, but you have to be careful and pull youself away from it once you get better. I know lots of people who fall into the trap of only copying works...and they are amazing at it, but thats all they can do. |

| If you plan on taking mandypaw's advice, go here http://www.fightersgeneration.com/main.htm . once its finished being updated, it'll have artwork for almost every fighting game character. right now its only up to the F's but its still useful |

I found that this site is an excellent place learn some basics on drawing manga characters, as well as panels, and even some kanji so your book looks even more authentic (spelling?). Good luck and post your work here when you're done!

Here's my humble advice for you --- pursue your own unique style. It's much better than drawing anime, which is a style that most amateur artists do (and fail at).
Sure, you can start out with anime references, but you should use the style that you feel comfortable with...one that just comes naturally to you. Me, I'm pursuing semi-realism, simply because I've always wanted to do that, and I feel comfortable with it.
Keep trying. |

| go study up on realism and anatomy. that helps a great deal because.....................................................................................................its the foundation of most drawings/illustrations/cartoons/comics/whathaveyou. you should also follow the suggestions about studying your favorite artists and style. things like that will help you develop your drawings. and when studying realism, you will conform it to whatever is most comfortable for you. so you will simplify it to your own style. studying artists that inspire you or their art style will also help you to define your own guidelines/path for your art style to follow. |

mmm... i would say that you should learn how to draw in various styles besides manga while ur learning how to draw manga.
i find this the best why to learn how to draw manga, since manga to me is like a more simplistic way of portraying the real world.
newayz, if u want tutorials, google is ur friend. so is yahoo, but nobody uses that nemore T.T
i suggest searching "draw manga tutorial forum", that way u can find a forum dedicated to art tutorials thatll prolly have a lotta links to manga howto's. |

- When i first started trying to draw manga characters I did not use a tutorial. I searched online for pictures I wanted to draw. I printed the pictures out and then traced them on graph paper. I did not trace the entire thing, instead, I traced individual parts like the clothing, that certain body part and so on. Eventually, you will just get use to the feel of how you're suppose to draw the picture because you will realize the proportions of the body parts to another as you start drawing. In time, you can start messing around with the proportions and thats how you create your own characters. So I recommend tracing pictures from many different artists which is basically what the tutorial does anyway, teaching you basic way to draw this and that..so on. As for shading and so on, all you have to do is think about yourself, like for examples; lets say you draw a character standing under the shiny bright sun *lol*, you just imagine your own shadows that you make when you stand under the sun. Well, this is how I learned to draw by myself since I didn't really want to waste money buying like a $20 book just to learn how to draw. |
