everyone might be curious about the OAV and will want to watch it, but don't expect anything out of the OAV because it is nothing at all similiar to the manga save for the same characters.
Their backgrounds, relationships and even personalities are different from the manga. _________________

Is it me, or does the ending just seem so completely wrong in this story?
What I don't get is Izumi in chapter 112-113. She wanted him and loved him completely and yet she didn't actually fight for him. Didn't follow him(she should have been the girl living next door) - didn't spend every day giving him reasons why he shouldn't go out with Iori.
I feel that the author stuck stubbornly to a script/ending instead of letting it take a more realistic ending. Sigh.
First off, there was the temple and the walkway - the symbolism was that they *almost* made it, but not quite. That's not what happened, though.
Secondly, there's the tower of stones incident. He'd completely forgot about Iori and was making it for Izumi. THis should have been factored in somehow.
Thirdly, WHY didn't Izumi confront him that evening in front of everyone and drive Iori away? All she would have had to say is that he'd been dating her and seeing her for nearly a year - that he was a louse for dating Iori at the same time that she was dating him. Double-sigh.
Also - they could have taken the series and chopped off the first *80* or so episodes. IF the author wanted a drama in the last 20 chapters or so, then write one - but don't give us an unrealistic ending. It went from dramatic and nice to read to dark and depressing - leading up to an almost by the numbers ending.
I think it should have ended with either Izumi being there for him *again* and he realizing that his "dream" wasn't as important as someone who was there for him all the time. Or, perhaps he gets nothing at all - or the DVD has something on it or... Or maybe the ending was just that he died failing to do what he meant to do because he was indeciseive for too long?
The best ending, though, would have been his going through with "it" in chapter 113. She basically tells him that she loves him and so on - making it sound like she wants to spend her life with him - keep repeating loving things and dreams and so on in his ear. Look at him and say *anything* that you have to until he beraks down.(because apparently, she wanted it for real)
Then, the fireworks happen. She in the end, shames him in front of everyone and demands that he be honorable and marry her(be engaged). At the least, Iori would have been out of the picture as she'd promised. At least for long enough for their relationship to develop and either work out or maybe fall apart. Tell about the stones(make it sound like Iori stepped in when it was HER place). Tell about the cheating. Tell about believing him wanting it too(children and marriage and so on) because he didn't use any protection. Show then the ring he got her. Cry at his feet about being ruined and nobody accepting her... Even if it's bending the truth(mind youi, very little - he was such a bum to her), what would he possibly do in front of his friends and everyone else?
Such a better story. I'd have even made the "blowup" a week later and have her saying that she's pregnant(of course she timed it so that was likely to happen). That one sentance would have settled it right there. Now he's got the responsibility versus his real love angle to suffer through - which would have been a better. Maybe he gets Iori, maybe he doesn't - but it's realistic.
Sigh. I've yet to see a Manga end remotely like this. What we generally get is either a wimpy give-up or s "mised connection" or some nonsense. Even having her follow him when he moved out would have been a better choice. No true backstabbing. No true do-anything to get him(or her) attitude.
Sorry. Just sometimes I read a Manga (and over 100 chapters at that!) and the ending just comes off all wrong. KOR was kind of like that - it has a proper ending, but the blowup at the end was about 30 chapters too late. She'd have to be daft to not notice by the end of the second year. Yet, the ending works because it has the same feel as the rest of the story. Compare I's chapter 40-50 to the ending. Two different realities. Too much disparity.
Also, why are the *women* always just as gutless as the men? Can't they say that they love him? So little real-life fire in their actions and hearts. Sometime check out two women who are competing for the same man in real life. It's downright scary and there's real full-blown raging daggers in their eyes hate for the other person.
heh Plekto, you always have some of the most interesting posts from your propositions on how Ichigo 100% should end to I"s. One thing is certain, you always think of devious ideas on how each girl can get her way with the guy.. lol
Somehow I think the guy was stuck on Iori all the way and was distracted by other girls along the way but my impression when I read it ohh... about 2 years ago was like that.
Sure you can blackmail the guy (forgot his name, starts with I.. lol) but will he stay with you or will he wander around?
In this case I think he would still wander. Just my opinion, and I don't think he ever had sex with any of the girls in the manga, implied or not.
The fact that people read this manga and can debate about points, and tell others how it drives them nuts to read some of the things the main character does is a testament to the author of the manga.
Just out of curiosity.. have you read or watched some of his other mangas/anime?
I think Video Girl Ai would be more suitable in your opinion or even DNA^2. _________________

I think that "the girl next door"(Izumi? Sorry, forgot the name) was THE most undeveloped character in the manga, it was just the next thing the guy had to overcome and realize that he loved Iori. Besides I liked Iori the most and so the ending works for me.
I already said that in another post but if the characters, whether male or female, are normal, real-life acting people there wouldn't be any manga. The same with Ichigo, if Manaka wasn't such a slow guy it all would've ended in the first chapter. Who would think of another girl if Tsukasa is next to him. What a fool. She has the looks and the best character.

Well, in Ichigo 100%, he certainly SHOULD be pressured. If he's "dating" you and seems to want to be together with you - then push him over the edge. I see nothing wrong with blackmailing him into staying with you if he's dating two people at once - either he chooses you or toss him out. At least that's happened in Ichigo, which is a good sign.
I head some of the other manga by the author - but - somehow I's just never - well, it could have ended with the episode where they were in bed together about to do "it" - and he promised to be with her always. Save us 30-40 episodes and have a cute ending - he choose which girl to have as his girlfriend. 70-100 episodes should be MORE Than enough to tell a story.
You'll probably like DNA^2 and Video Girl Ai then, because the main character goes though anguish and suffering...
only NOT to end up with the orginal cute girl of his dreams. In both series he ends up realizing that he is better off with the runner up girl.. the girl who is always there for him supporting him.. childhood friends etc.
I think with I"s ... the author wanted to make a change and have the main guy end up with the girl of his dreams for a change. Just my take, you might like the other ones much better than I"s.
If you're a diehard fan of the manga, then the OVA is okay... but definately check the manga out before. Also, since the OVA isn't licensed, you can get it via bittorrent pretty easily.
