Mystery of the Tooth

I have a question for you wise people, what's the deal with the tooth?

I noticed that in alot of series a female character will have a single tooth showing for some reason. Redhaired party girl in Mahoraba has it, so does What's her name Class President in Happy Lesson, and a few others aswell that I can't think of at the moment.

Is there some kind of significance to it that I'm missing?

Unfortunately I can`t anwser this question, but since I love silly questions U got me interested and now I too would like to know more about this tooth mistery.
Are there any other anime with THE Tooth?

In my opinion it`s just a style of animation, no deeper meaning to it, but hey you never know. Maybe the aminators daughter just grew her first tooth and he/she wanted to commemorate it Smile

When I first noticed it I thought it was a young girl thing, but the chick in Mahoraba is in her 20s. They both seem to be aggressive characters, could be something to do with it.

Maybe showing a tooth or two make them cooler or something. Or maybe a evil smile or grin. I don't know.

I think it's to show that the girl is cute, young, innocent or childish.

Once they have grown mature, the baby tooth will fall out, symbolise her being an adult.

Actually I think it might have something to do with how the Japanese think that crooked teeth are cute, and that these girls have exceptionally bad teeth Razz

but yea that one teeth thing is to convey the type of char it is: Genki type

for eg...that blonde american girl from Ai Yori Aoshi...i forgot her name
and the blonde from excel saga...i forgot her name too
