| Well, I was born in Malaysia, family moved to Canada in 1989. Been living in the same province since then. I can understand a little cantonese, can't speak, read or write it though ( yes, I realize it's sad that I don't even know my mother-tongue ) |

I am Chinese and I know how to speak a decent amount in two different dialects, but don't know how to write in my language, though. I'd like to learn more about my culture someday when I have time. |

I'm actually not that surprised this is the case. I'm guessing that most of who have posted here live in a country where English is very dominant or the primary language. I'm also guessing that you've lived in that country for quite a number of years. So living in a place where you hear and see English pretty much everywhere you look, you tend to forget chinese. (such as in my case) |

I'm chinese new to this website (sort of) I'm in Canada, BC... I moved here when I was 4 and I can read and write chinese (well I'm not good at it but still I can read the basic) oh and my english isn't that good haha _________________

| wow i'm surprised some many chinese people cant' write, read or speak chinese....hows that considered to be chinese??? well i'm victor, i can speak, write and read chinese fairly well, i speak both mandrain and cantonese, and i came to the US when i was a month old. my chinese name is 黄序。 |
