It's related to ballet, i think. I just watched some episodes since they are now showing on tv at my country. Just that, it's dubbed in Malay so i can't really make out what the characters are saying and there's no subtitles.
From what i have watched, a young girl (should be Tutu) can transfrom into...... a ballerina? She then dances around and i have no idea what the hell is she doing. Since it doesn't leave a good impression for me after watching a few episodes, i decided to forget about it and watch Crayon Shin Chan instead.

I love Princess Tutu, it's ultra cute!! She is infact a duck who is turned into a girl, who then turns into a magical ballerina - Princess Tutu  It's a fun anime, purely & simply. Something to watch when your brain hurts and you just don't want to think too hard about what you're watching |

 ... a duck? That's quite shocking but it should have something to do with her amulet she's wearing, right? However, why does she have to transform into a ballerina to rid evil?
Sure, i agree that the characters are cute but my brain hurts more when i watched this anime as i have no clue what's the story about. I feel it's more like watching a children's play than watching an anime.

Basics of story!!

It's purely a magical girl anime and there doesn't have to be a reason for her to be Princess Tutu, she just is
The reason it might seem like a childrens play to you is because as you watch it you realise it it loosely based on existing fairytales such as The Swan Princess and The Little Mermaid.

Well, looks like there might not be a chance to watch past the first DVD, as it looks like this is one of those titles that ADV are dropping, along with Mermaid Melody (this has now been unlicensed  ). I am actually really annoyed, because I'm left with a brief taster of PT, with no way of getting any more  |

that sucks, as i watch it on anime network, and if its unlicensed they take it off. i dont know why in the hell hey would unlicense it, plenty of people watch it

There isn't going to be a DVD release for MMPPP and ADV won't be releasing anymore Princess Tutu DVDs (although there was talk originally, of only being able to buy it directly from ADV, whether they'll stick with that, or just won't bother at all, I'm not sure). It also looks like Wedding Peach DX is stalled as well, as volume 2 is still not available and ADV don't seem to like responding to emails |

It's ALL of their current shoujo projects I for one was really looking forward to MMPPP and I was very upset to learn it's been dropped. I nearly didn't buy Princess Tutu because of the rumours, but everything seemed to die down after the initial rumours, but then they became reality and I'm stuck with one DVD now!
They also dropped Tactics, which I was a little surprised and annoyed about, as I think that would have sold well (the manga does anyway  ).
ADV seemed to go mad with buying up licenses all over the place. I don't think they took long enough to think about what they were buying.
