I'd go with bankai that turns the sword into my double--and I can control it my mind, so I can be in a separate place..
in fact, I'd use my bankai, run the heck away so no one can kill me, and have it fight!! (but then again, **sanpakuto?? (well..i forgot the term, and I think i mispelled it bad the first time, but I sure as heck wouldn't call it soul slasher or anything like that) is created with soul, so if it gets a beating, I'd probably feel it anyway)

Mine would be where I slam the blade into my palm and then release using the name Earendil. There would only be a hilt at first but would resemble something like the sword Tenchi.

Shikai- a pair of dual wooden swords. (coz wooden swords RULE.)

i love kuchiki byakuya's zangpakto. not for the strenghth but cuzz it looks so dam cool. all he says is "chiri" and BAM! u see all these sakura flower petals and then u look at the enemy and BAM! he's down ont he floor. however, if its for flat out strenght and speed, i'd have to say Zangetsu.

Well mine would be a sword split into two colours, red and silver. This blade can then tranform into a liquid state or gas state or remain a solid in its shikai form then when it goes into bankai there are two blades that can tranform its state.
