| The only reason I play Xbox is the fact I can play my DDR and I get to play the same sweet games I play on PS2 on Xbox. |

| From what i've seen, no game out there uses all of xbox's functions. XBox is made extremely strong, but no game has exploited its abilities in my opinion. |

| I think the topic creator meant PS2, because the next xbox is the 360, and Nintendo is the Revolution. Anyways, Gamecube because I do not want to spend a lot of money on Sony products, which do not seem very reliable. |

I think that the gamecube is flawed in too many ways. I mean it hasn't caught on to the whole DVD/CD playing capabilities, sure this is Nintendo's first shot at using a system that doesn't rely on catridges, but still, the use of smaller compact disks wasn't that smart. For starting colors, the system was colored purple, sure, I knew that Nintendo loves to take risks, but when I saw the system I kind of turned my head. Later on they did release other colors, which I think was cool and all, but honestly, instead of using Purple, the system should have been colored a more generic color such as grey, black or white.
Another complaint is that the system was the only one of the 3 consoles (PS2, Cube, Xbox), to really use the online playing capability. I mean don;t you think that Super Smash Brothers Melee would have been a lot more fun in the sense that it had more replayability if you could play online against other people? There are too many games on the Gamecube that could have taken online at early stages and that could have really set up Gamecube as the dominant system at the time.
The graphics were beautiful for the console. I mean the system even had better graphics than the PS2, but it was released later (don't believe me that the system has better graphics? Take a look at Resident Evil 4 and how it looks on the Gamecube and then take a look at how it looks on the PS2, the one for PS2 is the downgraded version). However, even though it had superior graphics over the PS2, it wasn't on par with the XBOX. The XBOX was basically everything that the Gamecube was not. A graphic powerhouse (take for example Ninja Gaiden and the DoA series), monopoly based on online play (xbox live that was made really popular due to Halo 1 and 2), DVD/Audio entertainment system (could play DVDs and such), and of course it was an American made system.
Of course the Gamecube has a lot of up sides to the system and all, but this is just a statement to show that the Gamecube will never be the dominant system. Of course the system will forever remain to be a family console, and no other console can take that away.

If you say so. Try telling that to all the betamax supporters. The ps3 and xbox360 are on par graphically, the only thing sony will be behind on from current specs is power to drive 2 hdtvs at once. The specs don't allow it from what I've been told. Thats at 1080p which all of 3 people on these entire forums might have a tv capable of displaying. Why you would want 2 tvs is beyond me. Someone was making a splitter device for halo1/2 so you could use splitscreen multiplayer on seperate tvs. Far simpler than paying upwards of $700 a piece.
But as for Ps2 vs XBox vs Gamecube, PS2 for exclusives you can't get elsewhere, XBox for the pc ports and multiplayer, Gamecube for the exclusives and overall build quality. PS2s are utter junk quality wise. My current model won't read anything but cds so now I use hdloader and mock those who let themselves be a slave to load times. My XBox mainly gets used as a DVD player as it's hooked up to my Z-680s. When its not I would use it for Halo Lan matches. I don't own a cube but my brother does. Far too many games have come out for it that I want that I could spend a month straight just playing cube games and still have games left to play.
As for the previous comment on the cube and cd/dvds. I don't think so. The main reason there were PS2 shortages when it first came out was the fact it was a $300 dvd player. Back then that was an excellent price just for playing dvds. Add in the fact it will play your entire playstation collection and games that are coming out in the future and you've got 3 reasons to get it. Even then everyone who listened to music had a cd player. There was no need to include one in the cube. Even now the ipod and so many other mp3 players are available the current consoles seem limited. The XBox can store music on its hdd but you can't retrieve it. If you really want a cube and dvd player in one you can get a Panasonic Q.
The whole online thing to me is odd in many ways. Sony left it up to the devs to decide how it would work, leaving it in shambles. Socom had 56k hacks for it and all sorts of other fun. I believe Socom 2 ended up the same way. On Live cheaters that get caught will be banned. Halo 2s feedback system lets you report someone who is using their modem to cheat in game. The cube has Phantasy Star Online for online play, thats it. Mario Kart Double Dash lets you link up for multiplayer and I think theres another game that will let you use the BBA as well. Nintendo simply turned a blind eye to the market. |

| PS3 is good, and so is XBOX 360, so my brother and I are getting one console each. My bet is on PS3 being better, but i've seen some amazing stuff from XBOX 360. |
