Probably their most controversial acquisition yet, YTV announced just last week that they will be airing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex this September.
I don't know what they're thinking. Hopefully they'll air it uncut after midnight rather than marketing it as a teen title, but either way it's going to be interesting. You can read my full opinion on the subject here:

Whoa... Whoa... Whoa... GitS2:Innocence freaked me out enough that I couldn't even bare to put the the GitS:SAC cds into my dvd player... not to mention only watching the first 15 minutes of the movie.
How could they air such a scary thing on YTV?!? *prepares to fence down the television and open up all emergency exits* |

| Gits is definitaly a strange series, but it is really good. I've finished the 1st and half of the 2nd season so far and its still really wel done. The one thing about Gits taht I find amazing is that this is one of those more believable animes. A world in which people do have cybernetic parts is possible one day, maybe not in the 2030's, but sometime soon. |

| GITS looks like a possible future in the near future, with all the cybernetic implants or limb replacements, technology is advancing rapidly. the series looked really promising in the preview and unfortunatly when it came out i had to miss the first episode so i couldn't get into the story but after getting the first SE DVD i finally can properly see it. but have to wait for friends to fork over their cash, for the others |

If you have ever seen Dragon Ball Z or Yu-Gi-Oh then you have seen Anime. Yu-Gi-Oh has been playing on weekday afternoons on "Regular" TV for the last year or so all around north America. A few years ago I remember seeing Ronin Warriors, RoboTech and ThunderCats on weekday afternoon TV. More recently Hamtaro, Card Captors and BeyBlade. Along with the better known series Sonic the Hedge Hog on Saturday mornings, and finally everyone has heard of Sailor Moon and Pokemon.
All of these are Anime ! and they have played on most all of the FOX affiliated TV stations everywhere, besides several others.
Several years ago there was StarBlazers, Kimba the White lion, Voltron, and not to long ago a revival of Speed Racer.
I have most likely left out a few more recent Anime shows but you should get the picture. All of these are Anime even if you didnt know it at the time. |
