To be honest I don't like this pic. Yeah, the technique is excellent but there's no feeling in it. That expressionless face is kinda freaky actually |

| that's not the one I expected, but then, I'm not a big fan of Sailor Moon. Can't argue with the quality. |

My sentiments would follow the above posters. The quality of the work is evident. However the combination of a cutesy Asian hairstyle and sailor suit with a mature European visage is off-putting to me, to say the least... |

Thanks to the judges of the Anime-Source art contest for making Sailor Moon CG their 23 art of the week!
Considering the responses here at the discussion of the art, I'm even more grateful!
From the first reactions of my Anime fanart I recieved at Anime Expo 2001, up to A-Kon 15 earlier this month, I never believed I was headed for stardom in the anime field, but these works are simply my own expression of how I see anime. Thanks to Anime-Source staff for having the courage to like something different. I'm glad too, that the Sailor Moon anime, and the Shojo art I specialize in, is not a factor in the decisionmaking, because I'm not making any attempt to draw "what's cool", and I think even Pokemon, or less "serious" anime can be excellent subject matter. At least, I hope to inspire those that like anime realism to try something a little different too.

yeah, been getting into realism, but haven't tried anime realism.....mebbe i should, since i started realism i haven't been drawing any anime at all. it would be cheating
anyways, i love your view on the matter...to me...anime is like pizza, even when it's bad, it's still really good! |

yeah yeah, so other people have said she's doll-like ^^.
On the technical side, her mouth's a bit crooked - check the line because it's supposed to be parallel to her nose and eyes. I think by fixing that, her smile won't be so weird.
And fix the right-side hairbun - it shouldn't stick in so far since it's on the side of her head. Her other bun probably needs a bit more shadow on the bottom - so it looks more like it's attached to her head. Otherwise, it's a lovely piece, your digital skill's pretty good. |
