I was watching Monster, and I really liked the story line, so I decided to make my own version. The storyline and stuff are almost similar, but not word per word or characters. Characters are different The killers are twin kids though, but not German. They're Asian, not Japanese, N. Koreans. I'm making them up as I go, and so far, I'm kind of lost what I should write in the next chapters. So far, I wrote three chapters. Tell me what you guys think!
Prologue
Inspired by a Current Anime Series By Philip Han A.K.A Xpeed
“Doctor Cho! We have a code blue in the emergency room right now! The victim is a 22 year old male, about 5’8, 175 lbs.”
“What happened?”
“He was involved in a car accident just about twenty minutes ago. He has a severe head trauma and possibly a brain aneurysm.”
The nurses were frantic, trying to stabilize the man as fast as they could. The 25 year old neurosurgeon gives the man a quick check-up, looking for anymore injuries: broken bones, rupture organs, his vitals, and his pupils. They’re almost dilated. Not good. He looks at his watch, 1:54 am. There’s still time, I’m the only one that can save this man right now.
“Quick! Prep him for an emergency operation now!” The nurses hurried up and transferred the injured man to the emergency room. Is it too late for him? No, it’s too early to tell, I must save him. Doctor Cho quickly goes for the elevator to take him to the 3rd floor where the operation rooms are located. Quickly but calmly, he disappears behind the silhouette of the dark shadows in the hallway.
“Joseph! Hey Joseph! Are you awake?” What time is it? Doctor Cho looks at his watch. 9:40 am. It has been 8 hours since that man in the car accident came in. It’s already this bright out this early?
“Hey Joe!” Doctor Cho peeked down at the ground and notices two large sneakers. It was extremely clean and he notices a pink string tied to one of the laces. Once he saw that, he already knew who it was. He looks up and sees a towering figure hovering over him holding two cups in each hand. Yup, he was right; it is one of his co-workers. The man was quite tall, broad shoulders, quite intimidating at a first glance.
“Mmmm, what do you want James?”
James reached over and handed him a cup of coffee. “Breakfast.” Then sat down next to Doctor Cho. “Quite a lovely morning don’t you think? I think it’ll turn out to be a beautiful day,” giving Doctor Cho a big smile.
Doctor Cho turns his head slowly to James. “What are you talking about? You’re always saying that when there are a lot of nurses walking by.” The hospital was unsually busy on that morning “It’s going to be a horrible day,” while sipping his coffee, still half awake.
“Everyday is a horrible day to you Joe. You see, that’s your problem, you never appreciate what Mother Nature can offer us each day.” Doctor Cho looks over at James, giving him a disappointed glint. “You’re full of it,” twirling his cup in a steady motion, “the coffee sucks here.”
“What did you expect? We’re in a hospital. Everything sucks here. Wherever you go, you won’t find anything good about the hospital. It’s full of pain, full of death. One day you might save a person’s life, but the next day, you might end up losing that same person that you just saved. It’s life, it’s our life and we have to deal with it.” James got up and walked towards the windows, looking out. He was looking at something at the ground, probably a nurse walking by. The sun was awfully bright that morning and it almost blinded Doctor Cho when he looked outside. It is indeed a beautiful morning. Maybe, just maybe, today will definitely be a beautiful day. I wonder how the man is doing after the operation. Maybe I should go check up on him. “Well, I think I should get going. My shift’s almost over.” Doctor Cho gets up slowly, tosses the empty cup into the aluminum trash bin, and began to walk towards the elevators.
He’s hopeless. James said to himself. Today will be a beautiful day. Wonder what will happen today?
“Unit 41, come in Unit 41 over.”
“Unite 41 here, over.” Two police officers were enjoying their dinner when their dispatch interrupted them.
“We have a 10-97, gunshots heard in your area. Advise that you go check it out. Over.”
“Ah, roger that, we’ll go check it out now. Over.” The police officer puts down his radio and signals his partner that it’s time to go.
The two officers pulls up to a dark silhouette in the background. A dim light was on in one of the floors on the second floor. The front door was opened and a small light was escaping from the narrow opening. “Can you send over some backup? Over”
“Roger that, there are four units coming to you in two minutes. Over.”
One of the neighbors came out of their house and started to tell the officers that they same a flash of light from the living room windows. Hearing this, the officers didn’t want to risk going in the house by themselves. They thought it would be better to have a couple more heads to help them cover their back and the area around the house. The two units arrived quickly and the six officers started to make their way into the house. The other four started to work their way around the outside of the house.
The leading officers were cautious and made their way towards the living room. The living room doors were partially closed and a small dim light was emitting below the doors. The officers readied themselves and surrounded the door quickly and precisely. The leading officer opened the door quickly and saw something they’ll never forget.
There were two adults. A male and female, possibly around mid-forties, with a bullet hole in their foreheads. The male was lying down around newspapers, next to his couch, most likely reading a newspaper when he was shot. He was dead when they arrived. The female, possibly the wife, was found sprawled across the room, facing the dining room. She was dead as well. The door to the dining room was closed. *thump* The officer reacted quickly and aimed their guns towards the door. One of the officers got close to the door and waited for the OK from the other officers. He quickly opened the door and a small figure was standing in the shadows. The officer pointed their guns at the figure and slowly walked towards the dining room. They flipped the switch and found out that it was a young girl, staring towards the officers. The officers got a sudden chill, and looked at each other. The girl was staring straight at them, her eyes were staring blankly, almost as if a sharp object was piercing through the officers. Then the officers suddenly discovered another body under the girl. A young boy was shot in the forehead and behind the girl, the window was broken. The suspect most likely ran away by jumping through the window. The officer quickly checked the young boy for a pulse, and amazingly found one. “Hurry! Call an ambulance! This kid is alive!”
“Kill,” said a whisper, “Don’t kill…” The girl was whispering softly, barely loud enough for the officers to hear her.

“You may come in Doctor Cho,” said Doctor Gruthen. Doctor Gruthen was the Director of the hospital, a type of man that would do anything to get his way. Doctor Gruthen 70th birthday just past by and he was getting ready to retire. He’s fairly big and wide, with a beard that curls below his chin and his hair was as white as a flash of light. Doctor Gruthen wanted to ask Doctor Cho about something that might help him choose the next Director of the hospital.
“Yes Doctor Gruthen. What was it that you needed me in such a hurry,” Looking at him with a confused expression.
“Oh what was it? Oh yes, I called you to come here to talk about the future plans for this outstanding hospital of ours.
“Ours sir?”
“Oh, you know what I mean? The hospital isn’t run by one man. It needs many men and women to run this great institution, but it does take one man to bring order in it, and I won’t be that ‘one man’ in couple of days.” Doctor Gruthen walks over to the windows and looks down, “You see, I’m troubled Joseph.”
“Troubled sir?”
“Yes, I’m having a difficult time finding a replacement when I’m out and about in couple of days,” he steps back, and turns around to face Doctor Cho, “I couldn’t think of any good people that are respectful and responsible enough to take this huge burden.” He then walks towards his chair and sits down, and folds his hands on top of his desk.
“Sir? What are you saying? Wha….what about Doctor Bruheim? He’s quite skilled and respectful in this hospital. He’s been working here with you since you both were admitted into this hospital!”
“No, he’s too old to take the spot as Director. Besides, he’s going to retire soon right after me. No, I need someone young, someone that will be staying here for a long time. I need someone that has energy, and capacity, and most of all, swift thinking in critical situations.” He starts to fidget around his chair and leans closer to Doctor Cho.
“Look Joe, I’ve made up my mind, and it seems like you’re on top of the game.”
“Sir, what are you saying,” giving him the most confused look that he could give.
“It means, you’re being appointed in becoming the next Director of this hospital! Congratulations Joseph! You’re finally going to the top and you still haven’t turned 30!”
No! I didn’t want this, well yes I do, but not so soon. He’s right, I’m only 25 for crying out loud! There’s no way a 25 year old doctor could be promoted to the highest position in a hospital! It’s blasphemous! “Um sir, don’t you think it’s kind of too soon for me?”
“Oh nonsense! You’ll do fine. You see, a hospital is like politics. It’s all about power and respect. If you have a Full House, you’ll have to bluff your way out and go for the pot, but when you have a Royal Flush, you control the game.” He then gave him the greatest grin and started to walk down the hallway.
“Sir! Doctor Gruthen! I, I don’t know what you mean. How does a card game involve in me being the Director?
Still walking down the hall, the Director gave him a thumb up, “I don’t know, use your imagination how that relates to you. As for me, I’m off to lunch. See you later Joseph. Think about it! I hope you’ll accept my offer, because I’ll only offer it once! See you around,” he pushes the elevator button and the doors slides open, only to close again where the Director disappears.
11:34 am. Only 26 minutes until my shift is over for the day. What should I do? Doctor Cho was sitting down in his office, contemplating to himself for the next 20 minutes. I wonder how Mr. Smeethers is doing? Mr. Smeethers was the car accident victim that came into the hospital with the brain aneurysm. A brain aneurysm is a rupture of an artery in the brain, which can lead to permanent brain damage and even death. Mr. Smeethers was lucky not only because Doctor Cho was one of the most brilliant neurosurgeons around, but he had a mild case where a vein was rupture instead of the main artery. He’s probably doing all right. I’ll check up on him later tomorrow. Well, should I get going? It was already 12:02 pm when he got out of his daydreams. He picked up his coat and reached for the door. He glances back and gives a big sigh, I wonder how long I’ve been in this dingy office. He gives it another glance and slowly closes the door, checks out, and made his way down to the first floor, only to greet some of his patients on the way out. It’s been a long day, I think I’ll go home and get some rest. He gets in his car and drove off the hospital parking lot into the busy streets.
*Beep Beep* Doctor Cho woke up to the sounds of his beeper. *Beep Beep* What time is it? 9:14pm. Doctor Cho dropped down like a rock on his bed once he got home. He hasn’t gotten up until his beeper started beeping.
“Yes, 455 please,” Couple of seconds later, a man got on the phone, “Yes, this is Doctor Cho. Okay, I’ll be down in thirty minutes.” *sigh* Tonight is going to be a long night again. Ten minutes later, Doctor Cho hurries down the driveway and gets in his car. Pulling out, he drives away only to blend in with the existing shadows.
“What’s the status on the patient?”
“Patient is an Asian male, around 9 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.”
“What are his vitals?”
“They’re steady for a minute but we don’t know for how long. We don’t know where the bullet is imbedded inside the skull. Consider an X-Ray stat?
“Yes, I also want a MRI of his brain as well, and his vitals after you’re done.”
Is it too late for him? His vitals are normal and not declining at the moment. There’s still a chance. “Doctor Cho,” a nurse was trying to get his attention, “Doctor Cho, we think he has a twin sister. She’s currently in the emergency room right now.”
“How is she? Is she hurt?” He was making his way down to the emergency rooms where the twin sister was staying.
“No, she’s just traumatized to see her parents and her twin brother being shot in front of her. The police don’t know why she was the only one left standing. They probably think the suspect ran away before he could shoot her.” Doctor Cho checks for any signs of injuries on the little girl, taking out his flashlight to shine on the girl’s eyes. No reaction.
“Kill,” said a whisper, “Don’t kill……please.” Doctor Cho realized that the girl was whispering really softly to herself.
“What did you say?”
“Kill……please…….kill.”
“Kill? Kill who?” Doctor Cho was puzzled and started to get uneasy around the girl.
“Doctor! We got the results back. The bullet is found near the Interior Carotid Artery. Doctor? Are you okay Doctor Cho?”
“Yes, I’m fine.” This is a problem. The surgery will be too risky and dangerous, but I must do it! I’m the only one that can in this hospital right now! “Nurse! Get this boy prepped for operation stat, and a team ready when I get there!”
“Yes sir!” The nurses hurry back while Doctor Cho sits down to calm down his nerves. By then, all he could think of was that one little voice, whispering in the dark, “Kill…..please…..kill.”

??"??- ??!
There were tubes and machines all around the operation room. A team of 5 doctors and nurses were waiting for Doctor Cho to get ready for the operation and the patient, a young boy, was in the middle, head shaved off, and a small bullet hole in the forehead. Doctor Cho greets everyone in the operation room and began to concentrate for the coming operation.
“The bullet is located near the Interior Carotid Artery,” Doctor Cho thought to himself, “I just hope I won’t rupture the artery when I take out the bullet.” Doctor Cho was about to get ready with his team, when suddenly, he heard a loud slam.
“Doctor Cho! You’re not in charge of this operation anymore. The Director asks that you come see him right away.” The man was the Head Surgeon of the Neurology Department.
“Now?” asked Doctor Cho with a bewildered expression, “I can’t, I’m in a middle of a complex surgery.”
“Don’t worry about it, Doctor Brethen will be taking over your operation. The Director is calling for you now. So please, come with me.” He then shuts the door and the sounds of his footsteps fades away as he walks down the hallway. Sighing and disappointed, Doctor Cho walks towards the door and turns around to see his team in a confused state, not knowing what just had happened. He then glances over at the patient he was about to operate on. I’m about to begin a surgery and this happens. What is it that the Director needed to interrupt my surgery? He continues to look on at the young boy, just waiting there for him to operate on him, to save him, but instead he’s just lying down on the table, overshadowed by the numerous lights in the room. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon and I will save you. Doctor Cho then walks out of the room to join the Head Director and makes his way up to the Director’s office.
Once he arrives, the Director gets up and greets Doctor Cho inside. “Sir, what is so important in order for you to interrupt my operation?”
“We just got a call saying that the State Congressman has an Intercranial Hematoma shortly after he slipped backwards. This is an important time for us Joseph! This operation will further increase our funds and research. So I’m asking you to operate on him once he arrives.” The Director was giving a hearty laugh and showed with such pride to have Doctor Cho in his hospital.
“I’m sorry sir, but I’m in a middle of an operation.”
“Don’t worry about. I got Doctor Brethen to do it. I want you to operate on the Congressman. Don’t worry about your operation. It wasn't your operation from the start, it's fine, and the Congressman is lot more important than some boy.” Hearing this, Doctor Cho clenched his fist real tight, and gritted his teeth. He was furious after what he heard from the Director. He wanted to punch the Director so badly that it was pounding on his heart really hard. His chest started to hurt and he begin to breathe deeply, gasping for breathe each second.
“I’m sorry, but I’m going to decline from this. The boy came in first and as a doctor, I should treat the ones that came in first” Hearing this, the Director suddenly lost his cool.
“NO YOU’RE NOT! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PASS THIS UP!” The Director quickly became angrier at Doctor Cho and was yelling at him, but Doctor Cho couldn’t hear a word, for he was thinking about the poor boy that is still laying there in the operation room, waiting for him. “YOU UNDERSTAND?! I swear Joe, if you pass this up, you will regret it. I will make you regret it so you better get your head of your ass and smell the fresh shit that just landed in this hospital. You will operate on the Congressman whether you like it or not, because I still own you for the next couple of weeks.”
Doctor Cho started to shiver, but not from the cold, but from anger deep inside him. He wanted to yell at the Director and go back down to operate on the boy as soon as possible, “I’m……I’m sorry sir, but a boy is waiting for me in the operation room, and I don’t want to keep him waiting any longer.” With this, Doctor Cho turned around and started to walk for the door.
“DON’T YOU DARE! ONCE YOU WALK OUT THAT DOOR, YOU’LL WISH YOU NEVER SET YOUR FOOT IN THIS HOSPITAL!”
“I’m sorry,” he said, while he has reaching for the door knob.
“Stop! Don’t move another inch Doctor Cho! You’ll regret it for the rest of your life and I’ll guarantee it!” Doctor Cho opens the door, “Doctor Cho! I mean it! Your career will stop here!” Doctor Cho opens the door all the way and walks out. “Doctor Cho! That’s it! You’re through! Consider yourself being promoted gone! I’m gonna make you regret it so dearly!”
Doctor Cho stops outside the door, and turns around to face the Director. “Do what you wish with me after this, but I’m going to do what I think is right,” and turns back into the hallway and closes the door to the office.
“You are through! You’re gonna regret this, and I will make sure that you suffer through it!” The Director’s voice was fading away with each step that Doctor Cho took. He arrived back at the operation room, where Doctor Brethen was getting ready to get his gown on. “Doctor Brethen, I’ll be operating on this boy so you don’t have to worry about it,” gave the doctor a warm smile and disappeared behind the operation doors.
Doctor Cho washes his hands again after being exposed to the air in the hospital, and the nurses help him put his gown and mask on. “All right people, let’s get this show on the road. It’s going to be a long night.”
“Yes sir.”
“What were his vitals after I left?” said Doctor Cho with such interest.
“They’re stable and normal doctor.”
Good, he’s still doing well. He’s quite a trooper. "Don’t worry, I’m here to save you so that you've got nothing to be afraid of." whispering into the boy's ear. Doctor Cho then began on his operation that will change his life forever.

??"??- ??!
“Phew,” sighed Doctor Cho after he came out of the operation room. Doctor Cho looks at the clock near the information office. It was 3:45 am. It took him six hours to operate on the boy. The operation was a success and the boy’s vitals were normal. The operation room doors opened to take the boy out of the operation room to take him to I.C.U. There, he should make a full recovery. Doctor Cho still wasn’t sure if there were any permanent damage to the brain and if it would alter his motor skills. Doctor Cho was exhausted from the operation room and was about to get up to get changed when he noticed a dark figure hiding in the shadows.
“Doctor Cho, may I have a minute with you?” said the dark figure.
“Yes you may,” said Doctor Cho. The dark figure walked into the light and Doctor Cho was relieved to see that it was the Head Surgeon. The Head Surgeon had a disappointed face and wasn’t all that happy to see him.
“I hope you’re happy Doctor Cho, the surgeons that operated on him couldn’t save him, and the Director isn’t all that happy about it,” said the Head Surgeon angrily.
“What, I don’t get it. It should have not been a complicated operation! Who operated on him?” Doctor Cho was both confused and angry about the outcome of his to-be operation, and now that he found out the Congressman was dead, he was full of anger and hate. He didn’t know why he was angry and who he hated. He couldn’t hate the Congressman for dying because he couldn’t prevent it. Could it be that he was angry at the Director or the surgeon that operated on the Congressman? He couldn’t quite figure it out.
“Well? Aren’t you going to tell me who operated on him or not?”
“Doctor Brethen was the surgeon in charge of the operation, but he was dead by the time he could even start. He just didn’t have the talent and quick hands as yours. That’s why the Director specifically asked for you to do it.”
No, it could have not been that. A brain hematomoa isn’t that hard to operate on, and it also takes awhile for the blood to clot. It doesn’t make any sense.
“It doesn’t make sense at all!” yelled Doctor Cho, “It doesn’t! Even you could of successfully operated on him. Why didn’t you?!”
“I was ordered not to.”
“By who!?”
“The Director. If you have something to say, go up to him and say it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to file a death report and get ready for the stupid reporters that’ll be storming this hospital later today. Now, if you may.” The Head Surgeon was pointing towards the elevators where Doctor Cho was blocking the path to it. Doctor Cho, quickly ran to the other set of elevators, bumping shoulders with the Head Surgeon along the way. He reached the elevators and waited for the elevator to come up to his floor.
No, he should have not died. There’s something wrong here, but didn’t the Director wanted the Congressman to live? There’s no way that the Director would be involved with something dirty here? The elevator bell chimed and the doors slide open. Doctor Cho hurried inside and pushed the button for the top floor. That’s where the offices were located at. Doctor Cho felt like it took forever to get to the top floor, and once it stopped, Doctor Cho stormed the hallway and burst inside the Director’s office.
“Director, I mean, Dr. Gruthen! What happened to the Congressman. Please tell me his operation was successful.” Doctor Cho was bewildered and out of breath when he ran into the room.
“I’m afraid so Joseph. I told you to operate on him, but you didn’t. Instead you went ahead, disobeyed my orders and decided to save a worthless child in place of the Congressman!” The Director was breathing heavily and calmed down a bit, sat back down into his chair, and firmly put his hands on top of his desk.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s in the past. It wasn’t your fault, you didn’t operate on him, so don’t worry about it. You may go now.” The Director then spun his chair around and faced the windows, showing the back part of the chair to Doctor Cho, stating that it didn’t want him there anymore.
Hunched down, and exhausted, Doctor Cho got the message and walked out of the room, dragging his feet behind. For some reason, he felt relieved. Instead his legs felt heavier like a hundred pounds of weight just dropped on him.
I guess I’ll go see the boy now and see how he’s doing, but before I do that, I’ll go check on his twin sister. With that in mind, he went inside the elevator and pushed the button to take him to the floor where she was staying in.
The elevator doors opened only to have darkness flood inside the elevator. Doctor Cho noticed a small light coming out of the corner of the hallway and he walked towards it. “It’s probably the reception room,” thought Doctor Cho. He was right, there were two nurses on duty that night and both of them greeted Doctor Cho with such a warm welcome.
“Good evening Doctor, how can I help you?” smiled the nurse.
“Well, I’m here to see the boy I just operated on? The gunshot victim?”
“Ah, yes, he just came by here not too long ago. Do you need the room number he’s staying in?
“Yes, that would help,” chuckled Doctor Cho.
“He’s in room……..110.
“110? Okay, thank you very much.”
“You’re welcome.”
Doctor Cho then remembered about the twin sister, and walked back to the reception, “Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you before. Do you know where his twin sister is staying in?”
For a minute, the nurses were confused, but then they finally remembered about the girl earlier today, “Oh her! She’s the twin of the boy that just came in?”
“Yes, she is. Can you tell me which room she’s in?”
“Oh sure, she’s in room 48.”
“Okay, thank you again.”
“You’re welcome.”
Doctor Cho then began to walk to room 110 to visit the boy first, but along the way, he was passing by rooms 25, 29, 35, 40. He then decided to visit the girl first, since he was going to pass by her room along the way. Room 48. She must be in here. She must be sleeping so I’ll have to open the door quietly. Doctor Cho opened the door quietly and peeked inside. It was quiet inside the room, almost as if nobody was ever inside the room. He opened it wider and saw a small dark shadow in the middle of the room.
“Please…….Kill……..Don’t….” whispered the shadow, “Please kill him……..Don’t save him…..” Doctor Cho felt a chill going up his back and he had a sudden rush of fear going inside him, like sharp spears, piercing through his body over and over again. He switched on the light and in the middle of the room, the twin sister was standing there, barefoot, and just staring intuitively straight at Doctor Cho.
“Hey, are you okay? What are you saying?”
“Please kill……..save…..no.”
“Hey, what do you mean? Kill who? Don’t save who? I don’t understa-”
“Please kill him, don’t save him, it’ll come back……it’s come back.”
“What will come back?” Doctor Cho pushes the ‘Help’ button to call the nurses.
“It’ll come back and kill…..come back to kill……”
“Kill who!?” The little girl suddenly turns her head to look at Doctor Cho directly and says something that would change his life forever.
“Them…….” The nurses then came rushing into the room and stood there, looking at the girl. They too, also had a gush of fear rushing inside them and stayed behind Doctor Cho. Suddenly, the girl collapsed and Doctor Cho quickly ran to catch her fall.
What are you saying? What do you mean? What will come back and who will it kill? After that night, Doctor Cho didn’t have another normal day from then on.
