well i have been playing most of the summer and well i just see it as a good work out, i am really not that good, i still am in light level and standard is really hard for me, i am pretty sure that if i do it more often i can get better, but i dont really have the time.
well hope you improve.

Well, I have been playing ddr for a long time, and I still haven't gotten a single AAA. It might be because I have no rythm, but that could just be an excuse. Believe it or not, there are many points at which most people just stop playing because they're bored of the game, then pick it up with enthusiasm at a later date. If you want and/or need any tips, I could give a few, but they'll mostly consist of practice, crossover, practice, and use common sense.

Tobash's slight beginner guide to DDR:

1) In all honesty, the best way to get better is to practice as much as possible. You won't really get better sitting there hoping you get better.

2) Try to challenege yourself. If you just play the same easy songs over and over to make yourself feel better, your progress will suck.

3)Try out different styles. Don't be a boring bum and always keep your body and head straight forward at all times, try out different ways of moving.

4) Try your best to alternate feet with every step. This gives you a somewhat better reaction speed and better flow.

5) If you're having difficulty, you might want to try using speed mods. Or, if you want to increase reaction speed. use different mods to make it harder and have less time to react. When I feel like improving, I usually like using the mods dark, sudden, reverse, and 2x. Don't just follow this though, create your own improvement plan(that is, if you even like this tip).

Well, I think that's all the tips I feel like scrounging out of the top of my head. I hope at least one helps

thats an excellent guide up there =). i first learned of DDR about 4 years ago when my friend had printed out a series of arrows and playing it on his PDA. we all thought he was crazy for liking a game like that. two years later, i ate my words as i became addicted. It took me about 3 weeks to get the basics down. after that, i watched my friend and other people play to get ideas on how to do certain steps, manuvers, etc. Tobash is rite when he said challenge yourself. for awhile, i was stuck on standard/trick and could never pass any of the heavy/maniac songs. but one nite during a lull at a LAN party i was at, a friend dared me to try. hyped up on tons of Bawls, Mountain Dew and M&M's, i tried it. failed the first three times, but soon found out that i was at least able to keep up. Im now doing heavy/maniac on most songs and as soon as i get a new pad, ill be playing til my shins break xD

thre triple A's on heavy. Wow. If i get a B on light mode i throw a block party. Its almost ironic in a way how you can learn to play a dance game through months of practice and yet after all of that you wont be a better dancer

Very simple game.

Started playing... sometime back in high school. Somewhat of a craze. It's actually really good for developing beginner stamina, which can later be used for running (which I did in my case). Also, it gives a person who plays on Heavy the whole time stronger legs, effectively improving jumping height.

If you can't read the arrows, try doing stepmania first or something else with your fingers. You have to know how to do the basic turns and spins, and songs such as AM-3P and Rhythm and Police are very good songs for that. For Cata songs, play So Deep for the gallops, Tsugaru for everything, and Healing Vision Angelic for the utter chaos steps. Haha...

Just got Extreme a couple of weeks back, and started on it. Cartoon Heroes is such a fun song, and it's the first time I encountered side crosses.

Also, since you have the PS2 version, try doing training mode on a song. That way, you can hear each beat that comes out, and each step. Do not play Standard mode... go from Light to Heavy.

My biggest problem with DDR is that there are so many freaks playing it. It gives the game a terrible image. This one commercial on TechTV proved it. They had these... nerds...freestyling to Afronova, and basically look like idiots. Just play the game and get a good workout, and stop making the rest of us look stupid.

I've only gotten AAA on 7-8 footers. Never on a Cata, and heck no on the Maxes. Haha... the only way I can pass Max 300 and Unlimited is with a bar/chair.
