I didn't think the episodes were that bad; episode 3 was a little cheesy but it wasn't, "OMGZ LAM3 I'll nevar watch thsi agin!!!!11" bad. The first few episodes rarely have ground breaking storylines or revelations, it just sets the mood for the rest of the story and flush the characters out.
And so far, I'm liking the series a lot. Van has a solid personality and helps only those who help themselves. At first this series reminded me a lot of Trigun, the character is 'innocent' and a little doofy but he can be serious and looks out for the greater good... in his own way. I can see where you're getting into Cowboy Bebop but it's just how the main character looks and acts; not really fair to draw conclusions and comparisons about an unfinished anime when it's being compared to something so well established. Brings back memories of Rah Xephon being nearly crucified because of the resemblance to NGE. Now Rah Xephon is known to be clearly different with a much different vibe.
I think Gun X Sword will do something similiar. People will criticize it for all the wrong reasons but I'm hoping it'll turn into something good. Anyways, from the 3 episodes I've watched I'd recommend this series to anyone who have found themselves like Trigun, The Big O, Rah Xephon and are willing to take a small risk watching a new anime.[/i] |

nice first post
well the only crucial part, the one that the producers had made a mistake in, is introducing the mecha part...
the story was already solid, the characters were already likeable, the actions are already breathtaking, why destroy it with the introduction of mecha, which only be more of an annoyance rather than _________________ ... |

| It remains to be seen whats going to happen with the mechas, its possible when he fights with more mechas they'll actually make it good. At the very least theres no real gundam crap who wants to see a pilot moaning in a cockpit? |

well then i just saw ep 4
nice ep... i might not be wrong if i say it is the best episode so far... it flows just nicely and the pacing was just perfect...
that and finally i saw some storyline and character advancement... finally Van accepted Wendy's companionship...

| The tech and Van really doesnt impress me, but the girl is cool and the series so far is good for about 2... nah 2.5 laughs per ep. If Spike in bebop was criticised by some for being perhaps a bit too nonchalant (in most eps), then Van of the Dawn (corniness of the cliche is kinda lame, not funny lame, just lame) is downright bland. Plus i dont reckon the setting is as cohesive as for example bebop (you cant stop the comparisons). But ive got the ability to watch just about anything, cept Van Dread, so i think i keep downloading the series. |

| This show just seems to be about cowboys and stuff. I don't understand the storyline either. But it seems other people like it. |

| hmm.. in the beginning of the recent episode (#6), it shows a scene with some robbers in a cafe/restaurant. Did it occur to anyone that it greatly resembled with the movie 'Pulp Fiction' at the end..? Or maybe I'm going nuts here >.<!! |

Van needs to stop acting like a dickhead when the topic of the claw man comes up. |
