Debate - Gay Marriage

for me its not that gay marrige its wrong or a sin(im not religious just very conservative). in fact im fine with the civil union thing. hell all it means in america is that they get taxed more. but to me the problem is that marrige is a cerimony ment to strengthen society and god forbid help produce childer and raise them. gay marriage wouldnt support these at all. and other then that in america at least the majority of people think its wrong. which means, in america at least, that it is wrong. and it will be banned for the forseeable future. and any state that hasent banned it, if there is a vote it will most likly be baned, hell it was banned in california 5 or so years ago. just no one told san fransisco.

You know 40% of couples who get married before 30 divorce? How many of those couples do you think have kids?

There are also issues to saying "you can't bring up good kids if you have gay parents". Just what are they basing this on? I saw on the news the other of some kid attending his moms' gay marriage and he seemed to be happy for them. If he's happy, then I don't really give a shit since it doesn't affect me anyways. There will always be bad parents no matter their sexual orientation.

Definition of a marriage is a joke these days anyways with the divorce rates.

Like I've said, I've heard the debate for months here in Canada. Its been in practice for two years, its been recommended by the Supreme Court, its been made law now.

Most people on the street don't give a shit. Only the religious and gay communities.

Before I say anything I’d like to point out that I don't care about gay marriage. If gays get married or not does not concern me or effects the way I live.

I think that Christians are getting a bit of a raw deal on this whole debate. I'm not saying they're right or wrong but at least with them, the issue is debatable. A lot of other religions would probably kill you or take a few limbs for even mentioning it Wink

seriously, why cant people accept how other people feel. they're human beings, they have their rights and justice as well. people these days only think of what's best for themselves and not think of what makes other people happy.

Yeah, the main thing about this is accept it. I mean, yeah it doesn't concern you if you're not homosexual.. but thing of the people who are. Just because they're different, doesn't mean you should treat them different from any human. Human. That's what is most important.

Equality is the most important thing about the human society. We should not discriminate any human because of race, gender, iq level, preferences of gender, and ETC. Respect your fellow human beings and allow equal rights!

I think if you don't like homosexual people getting married then ignore it. I think you can't judge a person on who they like, that is discrimination. You can't tell people who to like so just deal with it.

legalizing gay marriage is fine. it allows those who are gay to feel less discriminated. i dont see why straight people have to make such a big deal of it. gay marriage won't affect anyone other than those who are gay, i dont see how it would affect us.

Gay couples would walk down the street holding hands with or without the marriage certificate. It doesnt cause any harm to the straights. I think legalizing guns is a bigger issue because people would have weapons in their room and if they go nuts they can kill really easily.
