Hi, I'm currently building a new system. I intended to use it as a work/play PC, so right now I have difficulties choosing Graphic cards.
I originally want to get Ati X800Pro card, but then I wish to know about its performance in graphic apps like 3DSMAX or Maya. Did you guys have a suggestion? I need something that's good in graphic application such as Quadro, but also somewhat good in gaming also....
I'm thinking to get ati's FireGL3100 now, but I'm having a hard time to choose..... so please give me your suggestions |

X800Pro is pretty good. I think that will be strong enough for extreme 3D software. If you want more info, check out www.hardwarezone.com _________________

It depends on your needs and priorities, and you can hardly have the best of both worlds. You'll have to settle for your situation's optimal result. Since you're forking out that amount of money for your GPU, you're compelled by the need for more research

I'd go with neither of those myself and get a 6800GT. |

Nvidia's card is way to expensive, I will never use the geforce series.
after comparing Nvidia Quadro 1300 and FireGLV5100..............
I originally prefer FireGLs because of the PCI-E motherboard that I'm using, if I have AGP, I'll use Quadro instead, nvidia has attached a converter chip to change AGP signals to PCI-E, and that makes them super expensive.....
FireGLs still have the best ratio of performance/price........
it's just the GPU for FireGL5100 used is based on X700 I think.. nevertheless the rendering utilities are amazing. can't play any games with that though........
ARGH I'm pulling my hair...... what could it be.??? it should not exceed US$450. quadro is out of question...... now I'm narrowing my choice to either X800PRO or FireGLV5100..... (found some place that sells them under $500)
or... maybe it's like in the past? where we could change the drivers ? I still remember the days when we could change GeForce series to Quadro series..... but I can't fing any of those possibility with ATi cards.....
work....play....work....play......
